Position Overview

Shepherd of the Hills is seeking a self-starting, creative graphic designer with the ability to support website design/functionality, as well as drive on-site cross promotional efforts and provide support to Social Media & Public Relations. In this multi-faceted role, you will take ownership of our graphic design initiatives, email campaigns, guest surveys and help inform our social media strategy, public relations efforts, and website content to build brand awareness, foster community engagement, and drive attendance across our shows, attractions, and events.

The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator, storyteller, and designer who is deeply familiar with how to graphically tell a story and visually communicate clearly messages consistent with our brands. Being aware of social media trends, media/public relations best practices, and community outreach is a plus. The ability to pivot from one project to another, move quickly and take direction will be a requirement. From designing a show flyer in the morning to hand-delivering it to community partners in the afternoon, this role calls for someone who is quick, self-directed, and energized by a fast-paced seasonal entertainment environment.

Key Responsibilities

Graphic Design & Print Marketing

  • Design pamphlets, brochures, flyers, posters, and other print collateral promoting our shows, attractions, and events.
  • Produce print-ready files and coordinate with printers/vendors on quantities, proofs, and deadlines.
  • Distribute pamphlets and flyers throughout the community — visiting ticket resellers, visitor centers, local businesses, and community partners to market our shows and build local relationships.
  • Maintain a consistent visual identity and brand standards across all printed and digital materials.
  • Turn design requests around quickly, often on short timelines tied to show schedules and seasonal events.

Website & Digital Content

  • Design, update, and maintain our websites to promote shows, attractions, and events — including show pages, schedules, pricing, photos, and promotional banners.
  • Photography & Video shoot / editing
  • Keep website content accurate and current, making timely updates as show dates, events, and offerings change.
  • Optimize web content for readability, mobile users, and search visibility (basic SEO).
  • Support online promotions, ticketing campaigns, and event landing pages.

Public Relations, Community & Guest Engagement

  • Draft and distribute press releases, media kits, and official statements to local and industry media.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, sm influencers, and community stakeholders.
  • Organize and attend local events, media opportunities, and community outreach initiatives to represent the brand.
  • Identify PR opportunities and pitch story ideas to media outlets.
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging across all external communications.
  • Develop, launch and measure effective email marketing campaigns
  • Develop, launch and measure guest satisfaction surveys

Social Media Support Role

  • Support our organic social media strategy across platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook).
  • Assist with creating engaging and brand-aligned content (including copy, graphics, photos, videos, and reels).
  • Monitor social channels, respond to comments and messages, and engage with followers in a timely and authentic manner.
  • Track and analyze performance metrics (reach, engagement, growth, etc.) to optimize campaigns and report results.
  • Stay up to date with current social media trends, algorithm updates, and industry developments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support show openings, product launches, promotions, events, and initiatives.
  • Respond to guest reviews on TripAdvisor, Google, and other review platforms.


Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1+ year of experience in social media management, public relations, and/or graphic design.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated graphic design ability — comfortable producing professional print and digital materials (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar).
  • Experience updating and maintaining websites (WordPress or similar content management systems).
  • Proficiency in social media tools and platforms (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, Later, etc.).
  • Basic photography and video editing skills.
  • Content creation will be a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work quickly, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally for community distribution and outreach.
  • Passion for social media, branding, design, and community involvement.

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • Experience with paid social media advertising.
  • Familiarity with SEO, Google Analytics, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Existing media and influencer contacts in Southwest Missouri / NW Arkansas
  • Experience in marketing tourism related entities, hospitality, entertainment or live events.
