About Brick...

Brick is transforming how people interact with technology—helping people minimize distractions, reclaim focus, and live more intentionally. Our physical device and companion app turn smartphones from sources of distraction into tools for presence and productivity.

We’re on a mission to help people take back control of their time and attention so they can focus on what matters most—and we’re building a team of thoughtful, driven people to make that happen.

Job Summary / About the Role:

As our Director, Lifecycle and Retention, you will own Brick’s lifecycle and retention strategy end to end, from identifying opportunities and building campaigns to analyzing performance and continuously improving the customer experience. You’ll lead email, SMS, and other owned channels, building high quality audiences and personalized lifecycle programs that drive engagement, repeat purchase, retention, and LTV. This role blends strategy with hands-on execution, including managing email flows, briefing creative, analyzing cohorts, testing new experiences, and managing our offshore agency. You’ll partner closely with Product, Growth, Creative, Ecommerce, and Customer Experience to reimagine the customer journey across every touchpoint.

What You’ll Own:

  • Lead and evolve Brick’s lifecycle and retention strategy across email, SMS, and other owned channels, with a focus on conversion, engagement, retention, and LTV.
  • Build and optimize lifecycle journeys across purchase, post-purchase, repeat engagement, cross-sell, and win-back.
  • Build, own, and evolve the lifecycle analytics and implementation stack, leveraging AI, automation, and customer data capabilities that improve scale, efficiency, and sophistication.
  • Grow high-quality owned audiences through onsite capture and acquisition experimentation, using customer data to improve segmentation, personalization, messaging, timing, and offers.
  • Develop a structured experimentation roadmap across creative, audience, offers, and customer journeys.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Growth, Ecommerce, Creative, and Customer Experience to continuously improve the end-to-end customer journey.
  • Partner with Creative to translate strategy into compelling campaigns, clear briefs, and high-quality, on-brand customer experiences.
  • Drive lifecycle performance and data health by leveraging AI and other tools to ensure analytics tooling is reliable, rigorous, and supports clear measurement of Lifestyle and Retention KPIs with speed.
  • Manage the lifecycle calendar and offshore agency, ensuring campaigns, flows, and tests are executed accurately and efficiently.

What You'll Need to Have:

  • 6+ years of experience in lifecycle marketing, CRM, retention, or a related role, ideally within ecommerce, DTC, consumer technology, or a high-growth startup
  • Proven ability to build and own a high performing retention and lifecycle strategy from 0 to 1
  • Deep experience with email and SMS marketing, including automated flows, campaign strategy, segmentation, personalization, testing, and list growth
  • Hands-on experience with CRM platforms such as Klaviyo. Shopify platform experience is a plus.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with experience managing agencies, contractors, or offshore teams and translating cross-functional initiatives into clear, executable roadmaps

This is a full-time hybrid role (preference for New York City or Chicago based candidates) with a $170,000-$200,000 annual base salary depending on experience and qualifications.
