Student Assistant, Social Media (Federal Work Study)
The New SchoolThe New School was founded by forward-thinking educators in 1919 to defy the intellectual constraints of a traditional college education. The Dean's Office at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts and The New School for Social Research is seeking a student assistant to support Dean's Office communications across social media platforms, including Instagram, Meta, X, and TikTok. The successful candidate will report to the Dean's Office and will play a key role in maintaining a consistent, engaging social media presence for the college.
Responsibilities
● Manage a communications posting calendar to keep social media content organized and on schedule.
● Schedule social media posts through the multi-platform publisher Sprout.
● Post natively on all Lang social media platforms, including posts, stories, and videos/reels.
● Respond to comments and direct messages across social media platforms in a timely and professional manner.
● Pull social media benchmark reports to track engagement and performance. ● Complete other related communications tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
● Matriculated New School student.
● Federal Work-Study Award letter required.
● Quick learner of new platforms and tools.
● Available up to 10 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications
● First-year student interested in cultivating their skillset over four years.
● Administrative experience.
● Editorial/proofreading experience.
● Technology-savvy; familiar with Instagram, Meta, X, and TikTok.
Work Mode
Hybrid - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions. #LI-DNI
Hourly Rate: $18/hr

The student assistant will work closely with the Dean's Office team to maintain a consistent and engaging social media presence across platforms. This role offers hands-on experience in social media management and digital communications within a university setting.
