We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Sr Social Media Producer (Hybrid) on our Editorial & Channel Strategy team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.
As a Sr Social Media Producer, you will be responsible for independently, conceiving, producing, and then crafting
short-form video and graphics that help us achieve the AMA mission through
content. This role is responsible for social media messaging at major
conferences and fast-moving news moments and will quickly refine messaging for
both public and physician audiences. This role will play a key part in growing
our social presence, increasing engagement and distribution of content, and
elevating the AMA online.
Responsibilities:
Management and production of major news events
- Build and highlight content around AMA announcements, breaking news, enterprise marketing campaigns, and events, with an emphasis on moving fast and staying true to facts and the story.
- Lead social media storytelling at major conferences. Identifying themes, top quotes, newsmaking opportunities, and translating opportunities into content.
- Lead a storytelling approach that breaks down complex, topic into bite-size moments, videos, and quotes that align with AMA priorities and elevate themes that will resonate with the general public and physician audiences.
Content development and production
- Produce – concept, shoot and edit multimedia social content such as short-form video, graphics, animation, and platform-native posts.
- Responsible for original content; experiments with storytelling techniques, emerging formats, and creative approaches that make health content relevant to all.
- Contribute to strategy development, scheduling content, maintaining quality, and meeting deadlines.
- Collaborate with AMA Social Media Team and business units to translate complex health topics into clear, compelling visual assets optimized for social media channels.
- Monitor digital trends and conversations to find new content opportunities.
Analytics & performance tracking
- Track and analyze social media metrics to understand and adjust current and future social media campaigns and e content appropriately.
- Contribute to social media reporting, translating performance metrics into actionable recommendations that support AMA initiatives and campaigns.
- Utilize social media management and analytics tools to monitor key performance indicators.
- Monitor social media conversations and trends to identify opportunities for timely engagement and storytelling.
May include other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, multimedia production, communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field preferred, equivalent work experience and HS diploma/equivalent education required.
- 5+ years of professional experience creating and managing social media content required; health care and/or association experience a plus.
- Proficient with social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Sprinklr, etc.) required.
- Deep understanding of social media platforms including, but are not limited to: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X/Bluesky, Threads, and LinkedIn.
- Advanced proficiency with tools like Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Final Cut Pro, or similar.
- Ability to produce (including film/edit) multimedia social media content, including video, graphics, and animation.
- Awareness of platform culture: understanding when content goes viral and why, understanding of format specs, and able to spot an emerging creative trend before it peaks.
- Awareness and understanding of news cycles, media, and rapidly changing social media landscape.
- Strong creative instincts required: able to write a hook, edit a reel, design a graphic, and tell a story that draws in an audience.
- Knowledge of copyright, privacy, and compliance requirements for social media.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; proven Ability to take initiative and collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Some travel required.
The American Medical Association is located at 330 N. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611 and is convenient to all public transportation in Chicago.
This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $87,394-$115,797. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration and geographical location, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
