Summary

The Social Media Specialist manages the District's social media presence by creating engaging digital content that inspires people to connect with the Lake County Forest Preserves. This position develops and executes social media strategies; creates and publishes photos, videos, reels, stories, graphics, and short-form content; manages the content calendar; engages with online audiences; and supports Districtwide marketing campaigns. The role also plans and manages paid social media advertising, develops email marketing campaigns, monitors analytics to optimize performance, and stays current on emerging digital marketing trends and best practices. The Social Media Specialist ensures a consistent brand voice across digital platforms and regularly travels throughout the preserves to capture multimedia content. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Drives a motorized vehicle to travel to different locations, and performs tasks that will require walking, bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and sitting.

Experience

Associates Degree in communications, marketing, digital media, multimedia design, or a related field. One year of experience managing social media accounts for an organization or brand, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Familiarity with email marketing platforms, social media analytics, and a variety of marketing, public relations, and website concepts, best practices, and procedures. Strong skills in graphic design and video production software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects). Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills, with attention to detail in writing, proofreading, and managing digital files. Experience using audiovisual and photography equipment to capture and edit high-quality multimedia content. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Compensation & Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $28.46 – $31.00
