As a Social Media Intern, you will play a key role in creating engaging digital content that highlights the energy, creativity, and impact of Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri. Working closely with our Marketing & Communications team, you will help plan, create, and publish content across our social media platforms while learning how a nationally recognized nonprofit brand builds meaningful connections with its audiences.
This is a hands-on, portfolio-building internship designed for creative students who want real-world experience in nonprofit marketing and digital communications. The position requires 20 hours per week, is eligible for college credit, and offers a flexible hybrid schedule. Interns are paid minimum wage (currently $15 per hour worked).
Essential Functions
Create engaging social media content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other digital platforms
Write compelling captions and copy that align with the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri brand voice
Capture and edit short-form photo and video content for social media posts, stories, and reels
Assist with planning and executing social media content calendars and campaigns
Monitor social media channels by responding to comments and messages as directed and identifying opportunities for engagement
Track social media trends, emerging platforms, and best practices to help keep content fresh and relevant
Assist with live event coverage, including real-time stories, photos, and behind-the-scenes content
Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to brainstorm campaign ideas and creative concepts
Analyze basic social media performance metrics and help identify opportunities to improve engagement and reach

Work Location
This position is a hybrid position that will require some days in the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri office, on-location at Girl Scout programs, camps and events, as well as remote work.

QualificationsQualifications
Interns must be enrolled in a graduate, bachelor's or associate's degree program and have completed at least one (1) semester of college. Interns must be pursuing a degree relevant to the role. Interns may or may not receive academic credit for the internship. If an intern seeks academic credit for the internship, it is up to the intern to establish this through their educational institution.
Internships are temporary assignments offered for up to a maximum of four (4) semester periods. Intern work scheduled may vary depending upon course credit requirements, intern scheduling preferences, needs for time off, etc. Interns may work up to twenty (20) hours per week during the school year and up to thirty (30) hours per week during the summer.
