Job Title: Social Media Intern

Department: Programs and Services

Location: Novus Health and Novus on the Northside

Status: Unpaid, Part-Time Internship (Flexible Schedule)

General Summary

The Social Media Intern supports Novus Health’s outreach and communications efforts by assisting with the creation, scheduling, and monitoring of social media content. This role helps promote Novus programs, services, events, and community initiatives while highlighting the organization’s mission of providing inclusive, trauma-informed, and community-centered care. The intern will work closely with staff to share patient education, community resources, and organizational updates across social media platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing and scheduling content for Novus social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and website.
  • Create graphics, photos, and short videos to promote services, programs, and community events.
  • Help promote outreach activities, health campaigns, and clinic events through social media posts and stories.
  • Attend select outreach events or clinic activities to capture photos or content when needed.
  • Monitor social media engagement and help respond to comments or messages as directed.
  • Assist with drafting captions, announcements, and promotional posts aligned with Novus messaging.
  • Ensure content reflects Novus values, including inclusive care, LGBTQ+ affirming services, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Support other communications or outreach tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Current student or recent graduate in communications, marketing, public health, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred.
  • Interest in nonprofit communications, healthcare outreach, or community engagement.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Basic experience with graphic design tools such as Canva or similar platforms preferred.
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Photography or short-form video creation for social media.
  • Experience managing or contributing to organizational social media accounts.
  • Interest in community health, health equity, or public health communications.

Physical and Work Requirements

  • Primarily office or remote work with occasional attendance at community events.
  • Ability to use a computer and mobile device for social media content creation.
