Position Summary
The Marketing Data Analyst helps Second Harvest Heartland better understand how its marketing efforts are performing by transforming data into actionable insights. Reporting to the Director of Marketing with a dotted-line relationship to the Director of Data & Analytics, this role develops dashboards, conducts marketing analyses, improves measurement practices, and helps connect marketing activity to organizational outcomes. The Marketing Data Analyst partners with Marketing channel managers, while providing the cross-channel reporting and analysis needed to understand the overall business marketing performance.
This position is designed as a six-month temporary assignment to strengthen Marketing's analytical capabilities, establish foundational reporting and measurement practices, and evaluate the long-term need for a dedicated marketing analytics function.
Duties And Responsibilities

Marketing Performance & Campaign Analytics
- Develop and maintain dashboards and recurring reports that measure marketing, campaign, and channel performance.
- Analyze website, CRM/email, paid media, social media, and campaign data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Evaluate audience engagement, conversion, and constituent journeys across marketing channels.
- Support campaign planning by helping establish measurement plans, benchmarks, and reporting requirements.
- Analyze marketing experiments, A/B tests, and optimization efforts to determine effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Connect marketing activity with downstream organizational outcomes where data is available.
Marketing Measurement & Data Quality
- Support development and maintenance of marketing dashboards, KPI definitions, reporting standards, and campaign measurement practices.
- Monitor marketing data quality and identify issues involving UTM parameters, campaign tracking, CRM data, attribution, conversion events, and reporting discrepancies.
- Document marketing metrics, reporting processes, business rules, and measurement methodologies.
- Assist with implementation and improvement of marketing reporting infrastructure and centralized data solutions.
- Partner with the Data & Analytics team to ensure marketing reporting aligns with enterprise data standards and governance.
Audience Insights & Reporting
- Develop audience segmentation and constituent insights using CRM, behavioral, demographic, campaign, and digital engagement data.
- Analyze marketing performance across website, email, paid media, social media, and other channels to understand how audiences engage throughout the constituent journey.
- Identify trends, opportunities, and emerging insights that support campaign planning, audience development, and marketing strategy.
- Translate complex analyses into clear recommendations that help Marketing leaders make informed decisions.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Marketing channel leaders to evaluate campaign performance, audience engagement, and marketing effectiveness across channels.
- Collaborate with Data & Analytics, IT, and data engineering teams to improve marketing reporting, dashboards, and access to enterprise data.
- Support implementation of new marketing technologies, reporting enhancements, and measurement improvements.
- Explore opportunities to responsibly leverage AI tools to improve reporting efficiency, analytical capacity, and insight generation.
- Provide analytical support for special projects and evolving Marketing priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Analytics, Statistics, Business, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Approximately 2–4 years of experience in marketing analytics, digital analytics, business intelligence, reporting, or a related analytical role.
- Experience supporting reporting and analytics during the migration and consolidation of data from multiple systems into new reporting, CRM, marketing, or analytics platforms.
- Experience with CRM, marketing automation, paid media, website, and digital marketing platforms, including Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, or similar digital analytics tools.
- Experience analyzing marketing performance across website, CRM/email, digital marketing, paid media, social media, or comparable channels.
- Experience developing dashboards and reports using Power BI, Excel, Power Query, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools.
- Working knowledge and the ability to extract, join, and analyze data from multiple sources.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present analytical findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively across Marketing, Data & Analytics, and IT teams
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with campaign measurement, marketing attribution, audience segmentation, conversion analysis, and marketing funnel reporting.
- Experience utilizing third-party datasets, including demographic, geographic, or community data.
- Familiarity with statistics, experimentation, predictive modeling, and marketing performance measurement.
- Familiarity with Python or R for analytical or reporting purposes.
- Interest in exploring and responsibly leveraging AI tools to improve reporting efficiency, team capacity, and marketing insights.
- Experience working within nonprofit, fundraising, advocacy, or mission-driven organizations is preferred.
