Taoti is looking for a Marketing & Analytics Manager
Taoti’s tag line is “We move the needle.” Which is to say, we’re all about making a meaningful and measurable impact.
Marketing, without those measurable analytics, is a crap shoot. But marketing based on data and that evolves as result of what the ongoing analytics tell us is effective. Those analytics not only guide the strategies, but they also let us know how we’re doing, in real, measurable ways.
This job is mostly about the ‘measurable’ part of our brand ethos. Yes, it’s a marketing job, first and foremost. But with a heavy emphasis on the data and analytics part of marketing. Your job is to pour over the data to guide marketing strategies. And to continue to pour over that data to figure out how we’re doing, where we can improve, what’s working, what’s not, etc. We often think of it as a “data storytelling” role, so how you present the data and the analysis and recommendations you derive from that data is as important as the data itself.
Since AI is all the rage these days, let’s address that elephant in the room…
Probably in your realm more than most, AI has the ability to dramatically leverage your efforts and let you do things that you might otherwise not be able to do—at least not on your own. Sure, it will boost your productivity by handling some of the legwork that used to take a lot of hours. But more importantly, it will also enable you to find patterns, anomalies, and create the sort of visual interpretations of the data that most marketing/data analysis don’t traditionally have in their bag of tricks. We don’t consider AI chops a ‘nice to have’ skillset for this role. It’s a job requirement. (Tip: talk to us about how you’re using AI in your application. And be specific. Anyone can name drop the typical AI platforms. But we want to know how you’re actually using those tools to do the work!)
Okay…enough waxing poetic. Let’s get into some specifics about what the job looks like on a day-to-day basis.
Your work will span the gamut when it comes to marketing: digital marketing planning and execution, including paid digital media (SEM, display, app, video, audio), email marketing, web content, analytics, analysis, and reporting.
You'll be involved with everything from campaign planning to optimizing individual advertising tactics and informing results for clients across our portfolio. But again, it’s still a marketing job, so we’re looking for your marketing ideas, strategies, tactics, etc. (with the data to back them up and improve them over time.) We’re looking for someone who is always “in the know” about the most current digital platforms and advertising tools to recommend for clients’ marketing mix. We want someone who is a great data storyteller, translating technical findings to non-technical stakeholders. Our client base is very diverse, and with marketing clients like DC Lottery, US Figure Skating, the Jane Goodall Foundation, USAID, Geothermal Rising, and the German Marshall Fund, to name a very few.
Role & Responsibilities:
While it will vary from week to week, the majority of your time will be spent working with on client work and projects like:
Skills & Experience:
We’re looking for someone who’s not afraid to roll up their sleeves and do the work. Understanding the strategy behind the tactics is important, but this person needs to be in the platforms, executing the campaigns.
Some key experience we’re looking for includes:
Logistics
This is a full-time, W2, role based out of our Washington, DC office. We do offer a flexible telework policy that gives you roughly a day per week of telework (but you can accrue telework and use it as you see fit, just like PTO).
What’s the corporate culture like?
“Fun but focused,” as one Taoti put it, is a great way to sum up our culture. We’re a fun and casual shop. The kind of place where you can wear whatever, come and go as you please, and have autonomy over your own day for the most part. But we take the work seriously and believe deep in the mission to make meaningful and measurable impacts for our clients. All the perks and shenanigans and borderline irreverent tone are fun, but to really fit in here, you need to be about the work.
We also believe in total transparency and open communication across teams and across ranks. Instead of chain-of-command, we want everyone to have and share their own voice. The CEO holds ‘CafeClutches’ just so he can hear ideas and feedback directly from the team instead of through the filter of management.
