Purpose

The Director, BI & Reporting, Global Marketing Analytics reports to the VP, Marketing Analytics and is responsible for building and leading the global Data & Automation function across Marketing Analytics. This role owns the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of governed marketing data products, standardized metrics, automated measurement, self-serve BI, and AI-enabled insight delivery. The Director will lead the shift from fragmented, manual reporting toward a scalable ecosystem of trusted data products and automated insights that support marketing, business lines, and executive decision-making.

As a horizontal capability owner, this role defines requirements, governs standards, and enables capabilities that scale globally across Canadian Banking, Wealth, and International Banking. The Director partners closely with Enterprise Data, Enterprise AI, Harbour, Advanced Analytics, and business line teams to ensure marketing data is treated as a strategic enterprise domain, with the same rigor applied to finance and risk and that we are integrating BI outputs alongside Harbour-enabled workflows, shifting the function from static dashboards to intelligent, on-demand insights.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will be involved in:

• BI Strategy & Standardization: Own the global marketing BI strategy and roadmap. Lead the consolidation of the reporting portfolio, retirement of legacy dashboards, and establishment of standardized KPI definitions, taxonomies, and measurement frameworks across CB and IB.

  • Automated Measurement Pipelines: Build and scale automated data pipelines and reporting workflows (e.g., Airflow/dbt) that eliminate manual effort, improve refresh cadence, and ensure data integrity from source through to dashboard.
  • Self-Serve BI Portfolio: Deliver a governed self-serve BI portfolio (Power BI / Tableau / Looker) that scales insights across marketing, product, and channel partners while reducing dependency on bespoke analyst work.
  • Data Governance & Semantic Layer: Partner with the Director, Data Strategy to define and enforce the semantic layer for marketing — ensuring metrics, dimensions, and business logic are certified, reusable, and consistent across every BI surface.
  • Vendor & Platform Management: Own the BI platform stack and vendor relationships, including FinOps for BI, licensing optimization, and evaluation of emerging tools (Adobe/GA4 integration, Supermetrics, CM360, AI-native BI platforms).
  • Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of BI developers, reporting analysts, and automation engineers. Foster a culture of standardization, and continuous modernization.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Serve as the primary BI partner to CB and IB marketing leadership, media/channel owners, and the CMO org — translating business questions into scaled reporting solutions and shaping the two-speed (weekly/monthly) reporting cadence.

Direct Reports: • 3 Sr. Managers, 4 Managers, 1 contingent workers

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have the following:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field (Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics).

Experience:

• 10+ years of progressive experience in BI, reporting, or analytics engineering, with at least 5 years leading BI or reporting teams at scale. Prior experience in financial services an asset.

  • Proven track record leading through standardization — consolidating fragmented dashboard portfolios, retiring legacy reporting, and establishing certified single-source-of-truth KPIs and semantic layers across multiple business lines.
  • Forward-thinking on the BI + AI ecosystem — demonstrated experience integrating BI with AI or analytical based capabilities (e.g. NLP querying, automated insight generation, Copilot-enabled workflows) and shaping the evolution from static dashboards to intelligent, on-demand insights.
  • Track record automating measurement pipelines end-to-end (ingestion, transformation, orchestration, delivery) and driving material improvements in cadence, accuracy, and cost-to-serve.
  • Experience partnering with Enterprise Data Engineering, Legal/Privacy, and business stakeholders to enforce data governance and metric integrity an asset.

Technical & Analytical Skills:

• Expert-level BI platform leadership (Power BI preferred; Tableau, Looker also relevant), including semantic modelling, workspace governance, and enterprise rollout.

  • Strong hands-on grounding in modern data stack tooling: SQL, BigQuery/Databricks, Airflow, dbt, and cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS).
  • Familiarity with marketing data sources (Adobe Analytics, GA4, CM360, Supermetrics) and campaign measurement concepts (CPA, ROAS, funnel, MMM/MTA outputs) an asset.

Leadership & Communication:

• Exceptional people leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional influence at the senior leadership level.

  • Ability to translate technical BI and AI concepts into clear business value for CMO-level stakeholders and to drive alignment across marketing, product, technology, and enterprise data partners.

Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment, on-site; role based in Toronto office.
