Summary

The Social Media Coordinator (Young Adults) exists to grow and deepen Southeast Young Adults’ digital audience through compelling, relevant content that helps young adults know Jesus, find community, and take meaningful next steps in their faith. We’re looking for someone who knows what’s trending before everyone else does, understands what makes people stop scrolling, and studies content rather than just consuming it. You’re curious, driven, and accountable, and you care deeply about both the craft of social media and the people we’re trying to reach. This role owns the social presence of Southeast Young Adults and supports the social presence of the Young Adults Pastor, extending the teaching, leadership, personality, and voice beyond the room.

Why Southeast? Southeast Christian Church is a dynamic, growing church where staff are encouraged to lead boldly, care deeply, and live authentically.

What You Will Be Doing

Content & Platform Strategy

  • Own the day-to-day social presence of Southeast Young Adults, including content planning, creation, publishing, and the content calendar.
  • Create platform-native short-form video, photography, carousels, and written content for Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, plus Facebook/Meta and emerging platforms.
  • Tell the ongoing story of Young Adults through teaching, worship, gatherings, baptisms, testimonies, and behind-the-scenes moments, capturing photo and video without always needing a shot list.
  • Create engaging, on-brand content including short-form video, photography, carousels, written content, and real-time social content.
  • Stay ahead of trends, platform updates, and emerging formats, and keep experimenting with hooks, formats, and storytelling, scaling what works.

Young Adults Pastor Social Support

  • Support the Young Adults Pastor’s social presence with content that accurately reflects his voice, teaching, theology, and personality.
  • Turn sermons, podcasts, interviews, and other ministry moments into platform-native content without flattening the message.
  • Maintain an approval rhythm and help his platforms and Southeast Young Adults’ platforms complement one another.

Community & Audience Growth

  • Engage with comments, DMs, and mentions with care, paying attention to what young adults are asking and talking about to shape content.
  • Move digital engagement toward real connection through gatherings, groups, serving, and events, growing the audience through excellent content rather than engagement bait.
  • Flag pastoral-care situations, sensitive conversations, criticism, or media inquiries to appropriate leadership.

Analytics & Collaboration

  • Track performance across platforms and formats and turn insights into specific recommendations.
  • Serve as an embedded social partner to Young Adults while remaining an active member of MarCom, working closely with the Young Adults Graphic Designer and Southeast’s broader creative teams.
  • Build social plans for Young Adults series, events, and key ministry moments.

What We Are Looking For

  • 2–5 years managing social media for a brand, ministry, creator, or public figure, or comparable experience.
  • Native fluency in Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, and a strong understanding of how Gen Z discovers and engages with content.
  • Strong creative and writing instincts, especially in short-form video (hooks, pacing, storytelling, editing, audio), and the ability to adapt voice between a ministry brand and an individual leader.
  • Experience capturing and editing social-first photo and video.
  • Comfort with social analytics and AI tools for ideation, writing, and analysis, paired with strong human judgment.
  • High emotional intelligence and discretion; you’ll represent a church and pastor publicly.
  • A heart for the Gospel and a desire to help young adults know Jesus and connect to the local church.

Our Requirements

  • Engaged member of Southeast Christian Church, or willing to become one.
  • Models staff values: Honor, Care, Accountability, Grit, Authenticity, Humility, and Fun.
