The Role

We want a hungry storyteller and content creator who can shoot, cut, and ship documentary-style stories the same night they happen.

FifthColor builds the branded environments and experiences fans see at major championship sporting events, including professional golf and the College Football Playoff. This role requires 40% travel. During the summer golf season and the winter playoff run, you travel with our team, interview the people behind the work, and capture what it takes to pull off a championship. You edit at night and get stories out in real time across FifthColor channels. Those same stories then power our marketing and sales efforts. You also tell the story of every FifthColor division, splitting your time between the road and our Sheboygan Falls office.

This is a hard, fast-paced role built only for the most passionate storytellers. You want to prove yourself and prove what great stories are worth to a business. You will learn our business from the inside and turn it into stories that make people care. The long-term goal is for you to lead a storytelling team when the time is right. You report directly to our CEO.

You are a one-person team. Our internal marketing team is there for support and questions, but within 6 months you will own and manage the FifthColor story with little support, publishing 2 to 3 pieces per week across all four divisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Travel to championship events, mainly professional golf and the College Football Playoff, and document our work from load-in to the final whistle.
  • Plan, shoot, and conduct on-camera interviews with our crews, clients, and partners.
  • Interview clients on-site and capture testimonials our sales team can use.
  • Capture video and photo in a documentary style that shows the people, the pressure, and the craft.
  • Edit at night and publish 2 to 3 finished pieces per event, or more when the story calls for it, within hours, not weeks.
  • Repurpose each story in platform-native formats for FifthColor social, web, sales decks, and case studies.
  • Write the captions for your posts and engage with comments on them. Our marketing team handles broader community management.
  • Spot and jump on trends fast, adapting formats, sounds, and conversations to fit the FifthColor brand.
  • Partner with our marketing and production teams so every story supports how we grow.
  • Tell the stories of all four divisions, Events, Fabrication, Print Production, and Marketing, on the road and back at the office.
  • Manage your own gear, footage, schedule, and deadlines on the road.

Who You Are

  • Early-career, with 0 to 2 years of experience and a background in film, journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% of the time, with heavier travel during the summer golf season and the winter CFP run, including overnight stays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work long, irregular hours on the road, including editing and publishing content late at night after event days.
  • A storyteller and content creator first. Visual storytelling in video and photo is your special talent, and your reel proves it.
  • You can turn raw footage into a polished story overnight, with extreme speed and no hand-holding. Did we mention speed is critical?
  • You find the story, solve problems, and deliver without waiting for direction. You can run 3 to 5 projects at once across divisions and still hit every deadline.
  • Fearless with people. You walk up to anyone, from a crew lead to a tournament director to a client executive, ask good questions, and get the story.
  • Skilled in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve, plus camera, audio, and lighting basics.
  • Well versed in all relevant social platforms, with a sharp understanding of trends and the instinct to jump on them quickly.
  • Willing to travel up to 150 days a year, including some weekends.
  • Able to work long days outdoors, lift about 50 lbs of gear, and hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Hungry to learn how a business works, not just how to make it look good.
  • Golf or sports knowledge is a plus, not a requirement.
