Description

Sinch Mailgun is one of the most important product areas within Sinch’s Customer Communications Cloud. Mailgun helps businesses send, validate, test, optimize, and analyze email at scale through an API-first platform built for developers, marketers, platforms, and enterprise senders.

We are looking for an SVP of Email to lead Mailgun end-to-end as a senior product and engineering leader with clear business accountability. You will own the strategy, roadmap, execution, team health, and commercial outcomes for Mailgun, working closely with sales, marketing, customer success, finance, operations, security, compliance, and regional teams to accelerate growth, improve customer experience, and establish Mailgun as Sinch’s standard for enterprise-grade email. A core part of the mandate will be to build and drive the plan to bring Email into Sinch Build as a Sinch Email offering powered by Mailgun, making email easier to discover, adopt, integrate, and expand as part of Sinch’s broader developer and customer communications platform.

The Mandate

This role has a clear mandate: make Mailgun the center of Sinch’s Email strategy, scale it as a durable growth business, and bring Email into Sinch Build as a first-class product experience. The SVP of Email will need to simplify the portfolio, sharpen the product and platform strategy, improve the customer journey, drive stronger commercial outcomes, and build the operating discipline required for enterprise-grade scale.

What you’ll do

  • Set the Email strategy and operating model. Own the vision, strategy, priorities, investment choices, and operating rhythm for Mailgun across Send, Optimize, Validate, Inspect, related platform capabilities, and the Email on Acid transition.
  • Lead product, engineering, and platform execution. Build and develop high-performing teams with clear ownership, strong execution discipline, technical excellence, and a culture of customer focus. Balance growth, platform modernization, reliability, security, scalability, technical debt, and delivery predictability.
  • Bring Email into Sinch Build. Build and execute the product, technical, commercial, and go-to-market plan to make Sinch Email, powered by Mailgun, a first-class offering in Sinch Build for developers, platforms, and enterprise customers.
  • Drive growth and commercial performance. Own the product area’s performance across revenue growth, gross profit, margin, pricing and packaging, product-led growth, customer adoption, retention, expansion, and enterprise growth. Use data to understand funnel performance and make clear trade-offs across self-service, sales-assisted, partner, and enterprise motions.
  • Strengthen Mailgun’s market position. Define how Mailgun wins as an API-first email platform for reliable delivery, validation, quality assurance, deliverability intelligence, observability, and optimization at scale.
  • Simplify and unify the customer experience. Create a more cohesive experience across sending, deliverability, testing, analytics, onboarding, account management, billing, support, and cross-product workflows. Make it easier for customers to discover, buy, onboard, use, expand, and integrate Mailgun.
  • Partner deeply with go-to-market teams. Work closely with sales, marketing, customer success, partnerships, finance, operations, and regional teams to sharpen positioning, improve conversion, strengthen pipeline contribution, support strategic accounts, and improve expansion and retention.
  • Build for enterprise scale, trust, and compliance. Ensure Mailgun has the architecture, security, reliability, data governance, compliance, deliverability operations, and operational discipline required for global enterprise customers and high-volume senders.
  • Expand the ecosystem. Build growth through developer channels, MarTech integrations, marketplaces, embedded product motions, strategic partnerships, and native integration with broader Sinch experiences.
  • Use data to run the business. Establish and manage clear operating metrics across acquisition, activation, conversion, usage, deliverability, retention, expansion, customer satisfaction, reliability, cost, and unit economics.

Requirements

  • 12–15+ years across product management, engineering leadership, and business leadership, with meaningful time in senior executive roles.
  • Experience leading both product and engineering teams, with accountability for full product delivery from strategy through execution, operations, and product performance.
  • A track record scaling SaaS, API-first, developer platform, or communications products across self-service, product-led growth, enterprise sales, and partner-led motions.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including experience with P&L ownership, pricing and packaging, gross margin improvement, portfolio investment decisions, and resource trade-offs.
  • Deep customer orientation and strong instincts for developer experience, onboarding, activation, deliverability, reliability, retention, and expansion.
  • Experience operating in complex, global, cross-functional environments with distributed teams and multiple regional go-to-market motions.
  • Excellent executive communication skills, with the ability to align senior stakeholders, represent Sinch with strategic customers and partners, and make complex trade-offs clear.
  • Proven ability to lead through change while maintaining urgency, clarity, accountability, and team health.

Nice to have, but not required:

  • Background in email infrastructure, deliverability, email marketing, CPaaS, customer engagement, developer platforms, MarTech, or adjacent SaaS markets.
  • Experience leading branded portfolios through integration, modernization, consolidation, or migration.
  • Experience with AI-enabled analytics, automation, recommendations, observability, or performance optimization products.
  • Experience building ecosystem, marketplace, partner, or embedded product motions.
  • MBA or equivalent business leadership experience.

Who you are

You are a product and engineering leader who thinks like a general manager. You are energized by scaling mission-critical SaaS businesses, building strong technical teams, simplifying complex customer journeys, and turning product platforms into durable growth engines.

You bring ambition without unnecessary complexity. You understand the needs of developers, marketers, enterprise senders, platforms, and partners. You can move comfortably between strategy, product detail, engineering trade-offs, deliverability performance, commercial outcomes, and organizational leadership. You know how to make hard trade-offs, build trust across functions, and mobilize teams around a practical plan.

You combine strong commercial acumen, energizing people leadership with an eye for talent building a high performing team of “A-players”, strong strategic intuition, hands-on operational drive, strong operational mindset, “productive impatience”, while working with a clear long-term perspective.
