Digital Marketing Coordinator
This is a fantastic opportunity for a results-driven and hands-on individual to join our team at SquareX Natural Health. This role is remote, with company headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota.
About SquareX Natural Health
SquareX Natural Health is a direct-to-consumer natural health company based in St. Paul, Minnesota. We have three products invented by our founder, Dr. Hugh McTavish, a PhD biochemist—Square-Immune, a topical agent that acts like poison ivy to strengthen the immune system and reduce cold sore outbreaks, Clear Skin PGS, a topical that treats acne and other skin conditions, and Brain Balm, a nutritional supplement for brain health, especially for autistics. The latter two products have just recently launched. We sell on Shopify today and we're expanding into Amazon and retail.
Over the next 6 to 12 months we're launching those products, building a paid media engine across Google, Meta and Amazon, and turning email and SMS into a genuine revenue channel. We're after a step-change in revenue, not a slow climb. In 2 to 3 years we want to be a multi-product brand with retail distribution and a marketing team behind it. The person we hire now is the person who grows into leading that team.
As the Digital Marketing Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and executing marketing campaigns across multiple media channels, with an emphasis on paid media and email marketing.
This role unfolds in two phases. Phase one is building the acquisition engine: Google Ads, Meta Ads, Shopify and email. That is where your attention goes first and it is what we will measure you on. Phase two starts once that engine is running profitably and predictably, and it opens up into content, social and video. We are not asking you to do everything at once. We are asking you to fix the money first.
You will establish a collaborative working relationship with the business owner, who will work with you on strategic and big-picture goals while taking charge of tactical implementation and execution.
The ability to organize, plan and structure your workload in an autonomous fashion will be absolutely key to your success in this role. We neither have the time nor the inclination to micromanage you. You'll have a lot of freedom in this role but also a lot of responsibility.
The Six Non-Negotiables of This Role Are
-
Experience in e-commerce: You've worked inside a real online store. That means the platform (Shopify or similar), the email and SMS stack, the ad accounts, the analytics, the review and UGC apps, the subscription and fulfillment tools. You know how they connect and where they break. You should be able to open our accounts on day one and know what you're looking at.
-
Experience Managing Google and Meta Campaigns: You've personally managed at least $10k a month in ad spend for an e-commerce brand. You know how to structure campaigns, test creative, read the numbers and move budget toward what's working. ROAS, CAC, AOV and blended return should be second nature.
-
Copywriting. You’ll be crafting direct marketing campaigns across email, direct mail, web and social media. Your written skills need to be excellent, and we will expect to see samples of your previous work.
-
Leadership potential. Initially, you’ll be our only in-house marketing person, but as you hit goals, we fully expect this role to morph into a marketing team leader role where you will manage a team of marketing assistants.
-
Being teachable and coachable. There will be a LOT of learning on the job as we do marketing very differently. There is no place here for know-it-alls. We hire based primarily on attitude.
-
Being a self-starter. Goals will be clearly defined from the outset. Often, it will be your job to determine what needs to happen, when, and how. The attitude of continually starting things on your own is very important.
Perks of The Job
- This is a completely remote position, so you’ll have the ability to create your own schedule.
- Flexible work hours (though irregular hours may be expected based on working with different time zones).
- This role starts at 10 hours per week with the potential for full-time after an initial period.
- Salary expectation of $35 per hour
Skills Needed/Day-to-Day Tasks and Responsibilities
Phase One: Build the Acquisition Engine
This is your focus from day one. Everything below needs to be working before we move on.
-
Meta and Google Ads Management: You'll own our paid accounts day to day. Building campaigns, writing ad copy, briefing creative, managing audiences, keywords and product feeds, watching spend and reporting on returns. You run the testing calendar, scale winners and cut losers fast.
-
Managing the company's Shopify websites: Product pages, collections, landing pages, theme tweaks, apps and integrations, discounts, bundles and checkout offers. You make the changes yourself. You don't need to be a developer. You do need to stop waiting on one for every small change.
-
Developing and executing email marketing campaigns: Building our flows and campaigns in Omnisend. Welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase, replenishment and win back. Segmenting the list, running campaigns and split tests, and reporting on revenue per recipient.
-
Building the funnel end to end: Connecting ads, landing pages, checkout and email into one working system. Tracking and attribution set up properly so we know what every dollar returns.
-
Writing and editing marketing copy for ads, landing pages and email. This is the copy that carries phase one.
-
Amazon Ads Management: Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Display inside Seller Central or the Amazon Ads console. This comes online as our new products hit Amazon.
Phase Two: Scale Through Content and Brand
Once the acquisition engine is humming, we open this up. These become your recurring daily, weekly and monthly rhythms.
-
Create and manage a content calendar: Develop a content plan, create, schedule, and analyze content. Build high-value content assets and repurpose them across channels.
-
Manage the company's social media presence: Creating and posting content, responding to comments, and monitoring metrics.
-
Basic video editing: Cutting short-form video for ads, social and email without outsourcing it. Trimming, captions, hooks, simple graphics and sound. CapCut, Descript, Premiere, whatever you prefer. Fast and native-looking beats polished.
-
Graphic design and marketing materials: Lead magnets, resources, brochures and landing page assets.
-
Optimize marketing systems and processes from top-of-funnel awareness through to customer acquisition and lifetime value.
Ongoing in Both Phases
-
Tracking KPIs and campaign performance: Weekly tracking of spend, ROAS, conversion rate, email revenue, site traffic and customer engagement.
-
Creating and managing project timelines so campaigns and initiatives land on time.
