The Social Strategist, Creative + Content Strategy shapes how Thrivent shows up across social channels while accounting for brand truths, audience insights and creative whitespace. They connect what’s happening in culture and on platforms to what the brand stands for, turning that into smart direction that guides social creative work.

This person knows what “great” looks like in social and thrives on working side by side with cross-functional partners like creatives and media strategists. They’re a curious, disciplined thinker who can frame a problem and help shape the work. They have both a strategic POV and a strong creative instinct as well as the taste and judgment to guide social content that impacts our audiences.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the enterprise social strategy process, turning data, platform behavior, business priorities and cultural signals into clear whitespace for creative teams.
  • Build the briefs that guide enterprise content and campaigns, collaborating with brand and creative partners to define the role of social within larger storytelling.
  • Partner closely with media to align paid and organic strategies so they ladder to the same goals and share the same creative approach.
  • Keep the enterprise content framework current, owning the ongoing evolution of pillars, audiences and platform focuses.
  • Interpret social and audience signals to shape creative direction and inform the next wave of enterprise storytelling.
  • Guide creative development as a dedicated strategic partner, leading KOs and working side by side with the creative team to help craft sharp, compelling content.
  • Lead ongoing reporting engine and use learnings to inform future creative direction.
  • Champion a best-in-class approach to social across the organization, helping partners see what great looks like and inspiring teams to raise the bar together.
  • Partners daily with creative, brand, media and other marketing partners.
  • Represents the social strategy perspective in enterprise and integrated campaign development.
  • Builds trust with senior leaders through strong thinking and visible impact on creative outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

  • 7–10 years in brand, communications, or social strategy with a proven track record of shaping big creative ideas through audience-first strategy.
  • Able to distill complex human and business truths into clear, motivating direction that drives world-class creative work.
  • Hands-on experience partnering with creative teams; able to brief, pressure-test and evolve ideas with conviction.
  • Cultural fluency and curiosity: someone who knows how culture moves in social newsfeeds.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; can hold their own in a creative review or an executive meeting.
  • Strong judgment, taste and instinct for how brands should behave in modern channels.

Preferred:

  • Brand planning and/or agency background with experience leading social, brand or communications strategy for national campaigns.
  • Experience operating in regulated or reputation-sensitive categories, offering both strong ambition and sound judgment.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex organizations, influencing senior stakeholders and moving big ideas through to execution.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $104,063.00 - $140,793.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
