Social Media and Video Manager

Location: Remote Union Eligible: Yes FLSA Status: Exempt Salary: Level 3

About RepresentUs

RepresentUs fuels a grassroots movement to make government answer to people, not just the powerful. We believe no one should be above the law, and we build the constituent pressure, cross-ideological audiences, and engaged communities that make Congress act.

We’re a scrappy, high-energy team that punches well above our weight: seasoned political campaigners, communications professionals, policy experts, and organizers. We’re nimble, constantly learning and iterating, and we push ourselves to ignore industry standards and set new ones. We take the mission seriously and take care of each other.

About The Role

The Social Media and Video Manager is responsible for day-to-day creation and management of the social media program as well as execution of social media campaigns and strategies for RepresentUs, including through collaboration on and creation of video content. The person in this role works with the VP of Advocacy and Communications, the CEO, and other colleagues to operationalize the vision for shaping public narratives about corruption and accountability, and growing our social audiences, reaching millions of Americans with creative campaigns and educational content that matters.

This is a full-time remote position and must be located within the United States, with a strong preference for a presence in or regular travel to the Washington, DC, area.

Reponsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Pitch, create, edit, produce, and post all organic social media content.
  • Develop social media strategies to shape public narratives, reach target audiences, and fuel persuasion, engagement, and activation
  • Manage all social media calendars and content for all channels to reach organizational goals to include engagement of target audiences, followers, email sign-ups, etc.
  • Own all internal communications about social media reporting, strategy, and implementation.
  • Lead and manage paid social advertising efforts.
  • Manage 1-2 interns as needed.
  • Collect and analyze social media metrics to help inform strategies.
  • Own social media campaigns and strategies from start to finish.
  • Proof and perform quality assurance checks on content to ensure posts go live without mistakes.
  • Set up brainstorm meetings for social media campaigns, creating task lists, helping finalize content, ensuring all deliverables go live on schedule.
  • Build relationships with partners, creators, and more
  • Moderate comments on social media channels.
  • As needed, get out in the field to shoot and produce content on location — interviews, events, on-the-ground moments — not just manage produced assets.

Skills and Experience

What We’re Looking For

  • Storytelling skills that make complex accountability and corruption narratives land with people who don't follow politics closely.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for the mission and appetite to learn the substance and get others engaged with it.
  • Strategic thinker who can zoom out to "is this actually moving the narrative and the mission" — not just "how do we get more likes/followers/impressions."
  • Ability to work closely with organizational leadership to translate their voice, ideas, and messaging into compelling content, while bringing independent creative ideas to the table.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly about shared values, while reaching people across ideological lines — this is not a partisan communications role.
  • Strong collaborator who works well within and across teams
  • High level of initiative, ready to come to the table with new ideas, or run with those agreed on.
  • Comfort with message testing — running A/B tests, iterating content based on what the data says is landing, and translating research or audience insights into what actually gets posted.
  • Sophisticated, current understanding of how the social media and content creation landscape is shifting, including as a result of AI, and the adaptability to keep evolving as the landscape does.
  • Proven track record of growing social media programs and creating content from beginning to end — including campaign analysis and measurable results against organizational goals.
  • Experience managing paid social media campaigns and creating, editing, and producing videos for social media.
  • High level of organization, including experience managing and leading multiple projects at once.
  • High attention to accuracy, fact-checking and other detail; spelling and grammar snobs are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent design and copywriting skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and stay organized to get a campaign out the door.

A plus:

  • Some familiarity with corruption, accountability, or tech spaces
  • Familiarity working with creatives, artists, or influencers, or experience as a creator
  • Additional language skills
