About the role
A social media strategist to lead our organic media department——
This isn't a "post and report" role — it's a seat at the decision-making table for client accounts. You'll own the strategy, set the standards, and build something better than what exists today.
You'll inherit strategic ownership of current Brand Revolt-managed social media channels, and your job is to elevate the entire operation: sharpen the strategy, establish best practices grounded in evidence, and streamline content creation and channel management. It will be important to effectively leverage outsourced help (internal team first, contractors as needed, interns, etc) and AI in order to streamline repeatable processes and ensure you are able to focus on leading strategy and quality control. You'll also help us win new business by demonstrating the kind of proactive, data-informed thinking that sets us apart and selling brands on strategic social media/PR.
What you'll own
→ Social media strategy across client accounts — setting direction, owning the framework, and driving continuous improvement
→ Content creation as needed — outsourcing as needed; You will not be expected to create all organic social content, but we are looking for someone with a least basic ability to create posts / edit video / etc. We have on-staff designers and producers for more skilled needs.
→ Platform optimization and algorithm fluency — staying current on how platforms actually work and applying that knowledge to client results
→ Testing and experimentation — running structured tests, interpreting results, and making evidence-based recommendations (not just "I've heard people say that it’s better to..." — let the data lead)
→ Brand differentiation — knowing when to apply best practices and when to break the mold to help a brand claim its own identity
→ Operational efficiency — building the systems, tools, and workflows that let you and the creative team execute well without burning out
→ New business support — contributing to pitches and proposals with a sharp point of view on organic media strategy
→ Maintaining social media profitability — helping ensure time and costs associated with social media stays within retainer and/or project budgets; identifying opportunities to strategically increase client investments related to content/PR.
The kind of thinking we need
Here's a real example of the kind of decision we need you to own:
Should we use third-party scheduling tools for social posts — and if so, which ones, under what conditions? Social platform reps say it doesn't affect reach. Plenty of practitioners say otherwise. We need someone who can research this rigorously, test it where needed, and come back with a defensible recommendation — not a gut feeling.
That's the job. You make the call, you show your reasoning, and you build confidence across the team and with our clients.
What shows you’re a great fit...
Reporting structure
This role reports to the Creative Director. For the time being, you will be the sole full-time employee focused on social media strategy, but we may expand as client needs increases. Help us grow our team be maximizing our social media offering!
Collaborating with the Creative Director, you will help ensure the social media accounts you manage are connected to greater brand identities and strategy for clients. While the CD may need to help communicate or sell new processes, tactics or direction with other agency departments and/or client teams, you will be expected and encouraged to make the case to the CD for such changes when you see fit. Then, we can push in the same direction.
