About the Role
The Social Media Specialist will help drive organic social media strategy and execution for JBL, Harman Kardon portfolio across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. You will partner closely with the Group Social Media Director and the network of regional social media leads (EMEA, North America, Central America, South America, APAC, Japan, China, and India) to bring a consistent, on-brand voice to a global audience. You will be hands-on with content, community management, and reporting, while helping build the playbooks and processes that connect our regional social teams as one Group. This role is based in Northridge, California and reports to the Group Social Media Director.
This role partners with agency support and works in close collaboration with other global and regional HARMAN teams and across functions.
What You Will Do
- Content & Channel Ownership: Own day-to-day content planning, creation, and publishing for JBL, Harman Kardon and other portfolio brands across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube or other platforms as they become relevant and necessary.
- Content Calendar: Build and maintain a global content calendar, coordinating with regional social leads to align and localize content across markets.
- Campaign Development: Maintain relationships with regional/global agencies, writing briefs, manage and coordinate creators.
- Global Strategy: Making sure that the regions are aligning with the global social media strategy and brand guidelines and guardrails
- Community Management: Manage day-to-day community engagement and monitoring, ensuring timely, on-brand responses across channels.
- Platform Strategy: Partner with the Group Social Media Director on channel strategy, platform best practices, and emerging trend adoption (e.g., Reels, Shorts, TikTok formats).
- Performance Analysis: Track and report on content and channel performance, translating metrics into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with creative, PR, ecommerce, and regional marketing teams to ensure consistent messaging and brand persona.
- Governance & Playbooks: Support the development of social governance frameworks, brand voice guidelines, and platform-specific playbooks used across the Group.
- Creator & Influencer Support: Support influencer and creator partnerships and campaign amplification across owned channels.
- Crisis Communication: Support protocols for managing sensitive community situations and escalations across social platforms.
What You Need to Be Successful
Applicants must demonstrate a deep understanding of social media channels, trends, best-practices, executional tactics, measurement, management, and more, including:
- 3-5+ years of experience in social media marketing, ideally for a consumer electronics, audio, or lifestyle brand.
- Platform Expertise: Hands-on experience across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube, including native content formats, scheduling tools, and platform analytics.
- Sharp content instincts: a feel for what will and won’t work on each platform.
- Strong creative instincts, with the ability to translate brand strategy into scroll-stopping content.
- Creative thinker, capable and comfortable with generating innovative ideas.
- Proven ability to create unique and compelling positioning and messaging for target audiences.
- Highly resourceful and solution-oriented with the ability to proactively seek out answers, utilize available data, and leverage team resources to overcome roadblocks.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and optimize social media performance.
- Self-motivated, well organized, and up to challenges of changing timelines, requests, and deliverables.
- Quick thinker with a “can do” attitude who can manage multiple work streams and prioritize according to the needs of the business in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across global and regional teams.
- Ability to complete projects or tasks to completion in a thorough manner that addresses all the queries and anticipated follow-up requests.
Bonus Points if You Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or business-related field preferred.
- Openness to new ideas and the desire to continuously learn and develop new skills.
- Experience partnering with paid media teams or supporting paid social amplification strategies.
- Experience with social listening, sentiment analysis, trend monitoring, or tools such as Sprinklr, Brandwatch, Sprout, Meltwater, etc.
What Makes You Eligible
- Ability to work in the Northridge, CA office three days a week.
- Willing to travel up to 10%, as necessary domestically.
- An understanding that flexibility in working hours may be required due to the nature of our global infrastructure.
- Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment (post-offer).
