Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead official College social media messaging through the development of results-oriented content from the idea stage through implementation, working with key on-campus influencers. Plan, develop and evaluate social media plans via various multiple communication strategies as well as use writing and messaging skills to reinforce the College brand and strengthen its market position, while monitoring outcomes and identifying opportunities to engage students, staff and community members more deeply with the College.
- Develop engaging and results-oriented social media content in different voices to illustrate each platform's unique position in the marketplace and consistency of tone for each platform and audience.
- Serve as the primary social media strategist liaison and analyst for institutional-wide initiatives to effectively evaluate various events and engagements to leverage cross-channel communications strategies.
- Develop and maintain quarterly evaluation of College-wide social media efforts and share with the direct supervisor and department head to monitor outcomes and identify opportunities for active end users to better engage with the College.
- Design and produce gifs, memes, videos and Facebook/Instagram stories for breakthrough creative and PR initiatives to highlight student success that will help impact enrollment.
- Develop and maintain a social media calendar of key content across all COD-wide communications to enhance best-in-practice strategies to define priorities, ensure alignment and identify gaps.
- Write and develop engaging social content to enhance and compliment blogs, interviews, emails, scripts and other communications, tailoring content to the specific channel, format and intended audience persona.
- Maintain overarching social content architecture and ensure optimal use of content management systems and other platforms to enable repurposing and segmentation of content.
- Define brand voice and tone guidelines, in collaboration with the VP of Marketing and Communications and Marketing Director, specific to channels and purpose, liaising with cross-functional teams to develop a shared lexicon.
- Regularly audit existing social content; review analytics to determine what to revise, retire or re-highlight based on strategic goals; and ensure application of appropriate keywords and search engine optimization tactics within all content.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms to ensure maximum effectiveness as well as research audience preferences and discover current trends.
- Work with and mentor student worker assigned to social media efforts.
- Share oversight of the College mascot and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in creative writing, journalism, English, marketing, communications or related field required.
Experience
- Minimum two years' proven experience as a multimedia strategist, social media specialist or similar role required.
- Excellent writing and editing skills in English familiarity with keyword placement required.
- Creative thinker and planner required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) required.
- Expertise in multiple social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram required.
- Past experience with WordPress and social media management tools required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, particularly under deadline pressure required.
- Ability to use camera, camera-stabilizing Gimbal, mobile phone, wireless microphone, and other video/audio equipment as needed (for tasks not performed by Multimedia Services) for social media content required.

Hiring Range:
8 Hourly Starting salary beginning at $23.87/hourly, based on education and experience
