Social Media Specialist 

Are you the person who always has an idea for the next Reel, spots trends before everyone else, and knows how to turn everyday moments into engaging content? We're looking for a Social Media Specialist to help bring the Massanutten story to life across social media.

In this role, you'll be the day-to-day voice of the resort, creating content that inspires people to visit, return, and share their experiences with others. You'll spend time out on the property capturing photos and videos, creating social-first content, engaging with our online community, and helping shape how one of the region's leading resort destinations shows up online.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an early-career marketer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys being creative, and wants real ownership of channels that reach hundreds of thousands of guests and potential visitors each year. You'll work closely with our marketing team, PR partners, local businesses, and departments across the resort to tell stories, support events, host influencers, and keep our digital presence fresh and engaging.

If you're equal parts content creator, storyteller, trend watcher, and community builder, this role offers the chance to make a visible impact while growing your skills in social media, content creation, influencer marketing, and destination marketing.

Required

  • 2–4 years managing social media for a brand, agency, or established creator account
  • Fluency in Canva, including building and working from brand templates
  • Proficiency in Meta Business Suite and a third-party scheduling and management platform (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Later, or similar)
  • Strong native editing skills in Instagram and TikTok, plus CapCut
  • Ability to capture quality photos and videos on a phone across a range of settings and conditions
  • Comfort reading platform and native analytics, and translating them into clear, accurate reporting
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage a content calendar, shoot schedule, and event coverage
  • Current, working knowledge of platform trends, formats, and best practices
  • Availability to work on the property, including evenings, weekends, and holidays around events and peak periods

Desired

  • On-camera comfort or willingness to appear in content
  • Experience working with influencers or sourcing and repurposing user-generated content
  • Experience maintaining third-party listing and review platforms (Google Business Profile, Yelp, TripAdvisor)
  • Hospitality, tourism, or destination marketing background

Typical Schedule

Days: Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends for special events
Hours: 9:00 AM to 5 PM, with occasional evenings for special events

What You Will Do

  • Channel management and publishing — Own the content calendar and posting cadence across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and emerging channels, adapting each piece of content to the platform it lives on.
  • Content creation — Capture and edit photo and video on property and develop fresh, on-brand content using native tools and Canva templates.
  • Online community engagement and partnerships — Manage daily engagement and build relationships with local businesses and partners to grow an authentic community.
  • Influencer and media support — Support the PR partner in coordinating, scheduling, and hosting influencer and media visits, and leveraging the resulting content.
  • Listings and online reputation — Maintain accuracy across third-party profiles and monitor reviews.
  • Analytics and performance reporting — Track, analyze, and report on performance against established benchmarks.
  • Backup support — Provide light website and app content edits as needed
