Job Title: Marketing & Communications Intern
Mission: To create an environment that inspires a passion for student success.
Desired Results of the Position:
- Supports the Algonquin Students’ Association (SA) with internal and external communications
- Supports the development of marketing content that promotes SA departments and services
Nature and Scope: Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing & Communications Intern will work closely with the Marketing Officer and all areas of the Students’ Association to provide communications and marketing support. This role involves creating and distributing communications and marketing content aligned with the SA’s planning cycle, departmental goals, annual priorities, and the organization’s mission and values.
Job Duties
- Provide communication support, including writing and editing emails, announcements, web copy, video scripts, presentations, and marketing content.
- Support the development and execution of communication and marketing campaigns.
- Assist in the production of monthly newsletters, ensuring engaging and relevant content.
- Support content development for the SA’s social media channels, including copywriting, photography, video, and ads. This may include assisting in social media coverage of SA events, including those scheduled for evenings and weekends.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- This position is funded through the College Student Employment Program (CSEP). Applicants must be eligible for CSEP (see full CSEP details below under Eligibility)
- Enrolled at Algonquin College in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- At least 2-6 months of professional experience in communications, which can include internships and volunteering.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a high degree of accuracy in information.
- Experience with WordPress and social media video editing is highly desirable.
Eligibility:
- Must be currently enrolled in a full-time program.
- The following students are not eligible: Second Career, Apprenticeship Programs, International students, Algonquin College employees paying a reduced tuition, Collaborative programs with the University of Ottawa or Carleton University and all programs that are not Ministry-approved;
- You must be a Canadian citizen, a Permanent Resident, or a Protected Person/Convention Refugee within the meaning of subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) prior to the application deadline date
