Social Media Coordinator
Southland TrailersWhy We’re More Than Trailers
For 45 years, Southland Trailers has been building more than trailers — we’ve been building a company where people come first. Today, we’re one of Canada’s largest trailer manufacturers with 560+ team members and a simple operating philosophy: people first, processes second, products third.
We believe in hard work, open communication, a positive attitude, continuous improvement, and leading with humility and respect. Using LEAN manufacturing and modern technology, we design and build high-quality trailers while constantly finding better ways to work.
At Southland, you’ll find a collaborative, hands-on environment where ideas are welcomed, initiative is valued, and your work makes a real impact.
If you’re driven, curious, and want to grow with a company that’s going places — you’ll fit right in.
About the Role
We're hiring a Social Media Coordinator to own day-to-day content creation and publishing for Southland's social channels — and to actually dig into why something works. You'll shoot it, edit it, post it, then read the numbers and decide what to make next. If you're the kind of person who can't help but check the analytics after you post, this role was built for you.
This isn't a content-calendar-filling role. You'll have real ownership over what gets made, when it posts, and why — backed by the data to prove it's working.
Key Responsibilities
- Shoot photo and video content on the manufacturing floor and at on-site company events (holiday events, community events, company gatherings).
- Publish and manage content across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube (long-form and Shorts), LinkedIn, and X on a twice-daily posting cadence.
- Read the data. Track and interpret performance analytics across every platform — views, watch time, engagement rate, follower growth — and use it to decide what to make more of, what to cut, and how to make the next post outperform the last.
- Edit long-form and short-form video to maximize watch time and engagement, adjusting pacing, hooks, and format based on what the data shows is actually working on each platform.
- Learn and build a real understanding of Southland's customer journey — from initial awareness all the way through to purchase — for both our B2B dealership audience and our B2C end customers, and use it to shape what content gets made for each stage.
- Plan content in advance — shot lists, scripts, and scheduling — informed by performance data, not just what's due.
- Own and keep the content calendar current so the rest of the team always knows what's posting and when.
- Monitor social channels and handle day-to-day community management — comments, messages, and engagement.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Experience creating and editing social media content — photography, videography, and both short-form and long-form video editing.
- A data-driven mindset — comfortable reading platform analytics across Meta, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, and X, and turning that into real content decisions, not just a report of the numbers.
- Real understanding of what makes content perform on each platform — a YouTube long-form video, a TikTok, and a LinkedIn post aren't the same content reformatted three ways.
- Strong writing skills for captions and short-form copy.
- Highly organized and comfortable owning a daily publishing schedule without close supervision.
What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days
- Independently owns the daily posting cadence across all platforms.
- Has taken over day-to-day management of the content calendar.
