If you’re looking for a full career switch or an exciting weekend roll centrally stationed in the beautiful Sierra Nevada, you just found it.

NOTE: This job description shall not be construed as a contract for employment. Must be at least 18 years of age. Sierra-at-Tahoe is an at-will employer. This position requires a post offer background check.

Summary

The Social Media Coordinator plays a key role in telling the Sierra-at-Tahoe story. You’ll be on the front lines of sharing what’s happening on the mountain in real time, from daily condition updates, event promotions, product launches, creating social templates and everything in between. This role supports the broader marketing team by managing day-to-day execution across social media and helping maintain Sierra’s tone, voice, and engagement across platforms. You’ll bring the stoke while also keeping things organized behind the scenes.

This is not a desk-only job. A passion for skiing or snowboarding and the ability to comfortably ride at an advanced level is essential for authentically capturing and creating content on the mountain.

What You’ll Be Doing: (but not limited to):

Daily Content Execution: Capture, edit, and schedule daily content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X—everything from fresh snowy mornings and terrain park edits to live events, sunset grooming runs, and resharing guest stories.

Visual Storytelling: Spend time on the mountain regularly to capture content in the moment—whether you're filming first chair on your iPhone, filming laps in the park, or documenting a bluebird groomer day. You’ll need to ski or snowboard confidently while shooting and moving with your gear via iPhone, GoPro, and camera.

Copywriting: Draft fun, brand-right captions for social, emails and responses that sound like Sierra (not a robot). Bonus if you can slide in a pun or pow joke here and there.

Social Media Trendspotting + Creative Design: Stay immersed in platforms like Instagram and TikTok to track emerging trends, formats, and ski industry moments. Bring fresh ideas to the table and shape them into Sierra-tailored posts using tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and in-app tools (Instagram/Capcut) for reels and designing stories. You’ll help keep our content creative, current, and scroll-stopping.

Guest Communications: Monitor comments and DMs to keep the Sierra community feeling heard and hyped. Route questions and feedback to the right teams when needed.

Content Coordination + Organization: Help maintain the master content calendar for upcoming shoots and deliverables. Keep content organized and tagged in content repository and distribute across various digital channels.

You Might Be a Good Fit If You:

Are a strong communicator with 1-2 years of social media or content creation experience (bonus if you’ve worked in the outdoor or resort world).

Can ski or snowboard at an advanced level and feel comfortable carrying gear, stopping to film, and chasing content across the mountain in variable conditions. This isn’t a desk-only job, your office includes chairlifts, tree runs and terrain parks.

Have a genuine passion for mountain life, snow culture, and the Sierra vibe—you live for winter and love sharing that stoke with others.

Enjoy finding the latest trends and are familiar and comfortable posting across IG, TikTok, Facebook, etc. and can tailor content accordingly.

Thrive in a fast-paced, sometimes chaotic environment (pow days can get busy!)

Understand what makes Sierra’s audience tick—locals, passholders, playful terrain, families, and our mountain-loving community.

Have strong attention to detail, organization skills, and a flexible, team-oriented attitude.

Can write clean, compelling copy in a voice that’s fun, humble, and clear.

Bonus Points For:

Photography/video skills (shooting and light editing).

Familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., Sprout, or Meta Business Suite).

Experience working with athletes, creators, or managing user-generated content.

An understanding of or love for skiing and snowboarding.

Responsibilities to Safety

1. Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort guests at all times.

2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.

3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
