As part of the Communications Team at The Austin Stone Community Church, the Social Media Content Creator (SMCC) will produce and publish photo, video, and written content that represents The Austin Stone across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube. The SMCC blends creative production with platform-specific strategy to grow our audience, deepen engagement, and tell the story of how Christ is moving through The Austin Stone. The SMCC will report directly to the Communications Director.
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintain a social media strategy and content calendar that accurately reflects the mission and vision of The Austin Stone and its ministries.
- Plan, film, edit, and publish platform-native content, staying current on social media trends and best practices.
- Build shot lists and capture photo and video content at Sunday services and special events.
- Write social captions and content, as needed, in the TAS brand voice.
- Include, as needed, volunteer photographers and videographers.
- Edit photo and video content for reels, stories, and other formats, and maintain branded templates.
- Partner with the creative team and serve as an on-camera brand personality as needed.
- Monitor and respond to comments and messages to foster a positive online community.
- Track performance metrics and collaboratively form and develop content strategy to improve reach and engagement.
- Support congregations and ministries with social media needs, ensuring compliance with Social Media Guide standards and Brand Guidelines.
- Utilize and add to the provided Digital Asset Manager for photo and video asset acquisition and cataloging process in collaboration with the Creative Support Department.
- Attend all required events and activities for The Austin Stone, including staff meetings, prayer meetings, special events, and staff development days.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field, preferred
- 3 years of experience in social media content creation or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in creating graphics using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, preferred

Uses a systematic approach to identifying successful content formats and adjusting strategy. Able to anticipate what information would be helpful and take initiative to report on it.
Creativity & Trend Awareness - An out-of-the-box thinker with expert knowledge of current social media trends and internet culture. Able to research and compile trends, ideas, and best-in-class examples to propose new content, and to steer trend curation toward thumb-stopping content audiences want to rewatch, share, and continuously tune in to.
Leadership - Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and deploy a team of volunteers, providing clear direction and encouragement to ensure consistent, high-quality content capture across events and services.
Technical Skills - Skilled in video editing tools (CapCut, Premiere Pro), photo editing (Lightroom), and graphic design (Canva, Photoshop), including filming, editing, color correction, and sound design. Deep understanding of social media trends, algorithms, and platform-specific best practices for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Comfortable operating computer systems including MacOS, Google suite, and word processing applications such as MS Office suite of products.
