Position Overview
Butler Athletics is seeking a creative, highly motivated, and detail-oriented Social Media Assistant to help tell the unique stories of our 20 NCAA Division 1 sports. This role will report directly to the Assistant Athletic Director/Digital & Creative Content and is responsible for creating and managing engaging, authentic, and time digital content for all of Butler Athletics social media channels.
Responsibilities
- Content Creation: Shoot, edit, and produce high-quality short-form video content (TikTok, Reels) and photos during home athletic events.
- Graphic Design: Ability to update gameday templates and promotional materials using Photoshop, adhering strictly to Butler Athletics brand standards.
- Live-Game Coverage: Assist with real-time social media coverage (X/Twitter, Instagram Stories) during home sporting events, including capturing highlights, updating score graphics, and posting live reactions.
- Social Strategy: Stay ahead of social media trends, popular audio, and platform updates to keep Butler's accounts fresh, engaging, and culturally relevant.
- Collaboration: Partner with other full-time Content staff and numerous areas of the Athletics department to coordinate social media campaigns, match ticket-sales pushes, and highlight student-athlete achievements on social platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of social media management tools (Hootsuite)
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Organizational skills; ability to multi-task/manage several projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, strategic-thinking skills; willingness to learn and take initiative
- Positive attitude with strong interpersonal/customer service skills
- Proven ability to work autonomously, collaboratively, and within a team structure.
- Proficiency in office software systems such as: Photoshop, Capcut, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Light Room
- The ability to maintain confidentiality

- Desired candidate will have outstanding verbal communication skills and be able to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and other athletics staff.
