You’re excited by the evolving social and influencer landscape—and by helping clients make sense of it with an earned-first mindset.

Weber Shandwick is seeking a Senior Manager, Social and Influencer to join our team in Washington, DC. You’ll bring strong social and influencer expertise to a collaborative, high-performing team, working across levels and disciplines to provide thoughtful counsel and lead day-to-day work. You’re comfortable managing up, supporting and mentoring colleagues, and partnering with people across teams. We work hard, make room for fun, and help some of the world’s leading brands move their businesses forward.

This is a client-facing role, so building productive relationships with people with different perspectives and working styles is essential.

Who Are We Looking For?

We’re looking for a proactive, thoughtful team player who enjoys solving problems and getting work done in a fast-moving environment. You’re organized, adaptable and ready to contribute across the work—from shaping social and influencer strategies to helping bring them to life.

You likely have a background in digital communications, marketing or integrated communications, with experience across B2C, B2B, and/or public affairs campaigns. You’re interested in working across a range of clients and industries, and you bring excellent project management skills. You can keep multiple workstreams moving, communicate clearly, and help improve how the team works together. Most of all, you’re eager to take on a range of responsibilities and deliver work that’s both strategically sound and well executed.

POV: You’re Our New Senior Manager, Social and Influencer

Your day might include developing a social content strategy, advising a client on a paid social campaign, supporting an influencer program, reviewing performance data or helping bring a new idea to life. You’ll keep a close eye on platform and cultural shifts, then help clients understand what matters—and what doesn’t. You’ll also have opportunities to contribute to new business, learn from colleagues across Weber Shandwick and share your own expertise with the team.

The work will vary, but you’ll bring curiosity, sound judgment and a collaborative spirit to each challenge. You’ll also have opportunities for mentorship and professional development as you continue to grow as a social and influencer leader.

TL;DR

You’re passionate about social and influencer communications, curious about culture and platforms, and ready to help lead thoughtful, effective work. You’re organized, collaborative, and excited to grow with a global agency in Washington, DC!

Responsibilities

This is what you can regularly expect your work to look like:

  • Lead the development and implementation of social media campaigns that integrate with broader paid, owned and earned programs.
  • Educate clients and colleagues on emerging trends, platforms and best practices.
  • Implement digital engagement campaigns for top-tier government and corporate clients.
  • Serve as the lead platform strategist for multiple clients and internal functions.
  • Oversee clients’ social media channels, including editorial planning, content development, paid media, social listening, monitoring, performance analytics and ongoing strategy.
  • Inform the development of effective digital and social creative and editorial assets that resonate with priority audiences, and help ensure social channels are used in high-value ways.
  • Serve as a key client contact for digital campaigns, providing reliable project management and strategic counsel. Communicate confidently and appropriately with clients in writing, on Microsoft Teams and in person.
  • Collaborate with senior agency colleagues to develop strategy and ensure client deliverables are met.
  • Support new business development through pitch development and presentations.

Required Qualifications

We think you’ll be most successful with this background. If the role speaks to you but your experience doesn’t match every qualification, we still encourage you to apply.

  • 5–7 years of experience in digital communications and marketing, with a focus on social media.
  • Experience supporting large clients or organizations as they develop innovative social media programs.
  • Deep expertise in social media, including content formats, ad-targeting options and analytics capabilities.
  • Experience working closely with cross-functional teams, such as creative, strategy, media planning and PR.
  • Comfort working with senior-level stakeholders and clients.
  • A strong interest in social media and influencer trends, and the ability to apply them to client challenges across a range of industries.
  • Knowledge of social media listening programs and the ability to turn findings into actionable client insights.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at different stages simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
  • A resilient mindset, deep curiosity and a healthy sense of humor.

Preferred Qualifications

If you also have any of the following experience, you might be a great fit:

  • Experience working with social media influencers or content creators as part of a brand’s social media strategy.
  • Experience with social executive visibility programs, supporting senior leaders or subject matter experts on social media.
  • Experience with social listening or social media monitoring, and an understanding of how to approach a new client challenge.

Skills

This is what you need to know and be able to do with confidence in this role:

  • Familiarity with a wide range of social media platforms—including LinkedIn, Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube—and their content formats and native analytics offerings.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and community management, social listening and social media management tools such as Talkwalker, Brandwatch, Sprout Social, Sprinklr, Khoros and Hootsuite, or similar tools—and an appetite to learn more.
  • Strong research skills, including the ability to conduct desk research independently, quickly learn new research tools and identify reputable sources to inform client and internal briefs.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to create engaging short-form social content; experience writing longer-form content is a plus.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including creating client-ready deliverables in both.
  • Clear communication and persuasive presentation skills, both virtually and in person.
