The Role
Thrive Market is looking for a Senior Growth Marketing Manager, Search, Shopping & GEO to own and accelerate one of our most important customer acquisition engines.
You’ll lead strategy and performance across paid Search and Shopping, including Google Search, Shopping, Performance Max, and Microsoft Advertising, while helping Thrive Market build its capabilities in the rapidly evolving world of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO).
We’re looking for more than a channel expert. The best person for this role will combine deep technical expertise in Search and Shopping with strong growth instincts, customer intuition, and commercial judgment. You should understand how people discover, evaluate, and ultimately choose to become a Thrive Market member and use that understanding to identify opportunities across media, product feeds, landing experiences, offers, merchandising, and the broader customer journey.
You’ll also help us answer an increasingly important question: How should Thrive Market win as consumer discovery shifts from traditional search engines toward AI-powered experiences? You don't need to arrive as a GEO expert, but you should be deeply curious about the space and excited to help us build, test, and measure our approach.
This is a highly visible, hands-on role for someone who loves both the science and the craft of growth marketing.
Responsibilities
Search & Shopping Growth
- Own end-to-end strategy, execution, and performance across Google Search, Shopping (including Performance Max), and Microsoft Advertising, with accountability for efficient new member growth.
- Develop a clear point of view on how Search and Shopping should contribute to Thrive Market’s broader acquisition strategy and customer journey.
- Build and execute an ambitious experimentation roadmap across bidding, campaign structure, keywords and queries, audiences, creative, landing experiences, offers, and product feeds.
- Identify opportunities to scale investment while balancing incrementality, acquisition efficiency, customer quality, and long-term value of customers (LTV/CAC).
- Stay close to the details: diagnose performance shifts, uncover opportunities, and continuously improve how our campaigns operate.
Shopping & Product Feeds
- Own Thrive Market’s product feed advertising strategy and customer journey experience, partnering closely with Merchandising and Technology to improve feed quality, taxonomy, relevance, coverage, and landing page performance.
- Develop testing strategies that improve how Thrive Market products appear and compete across Shopping surfaces.
GEO & the Future of Search
- Help develop and implement Thrive Market’s Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategy as AI platforms reshape how consumers discover products, brands, and information.
- Develop a test-and-learn roadmap for GEO and help establish how we measure its impact on discovery, traffic, customer acquisition, and the broader business.
- Stay at the forefront of changes across Google, Microsoft, AI search platforms, and emerging discovery behaviors and translate those changes into actionable opportunities for Thrive Market.
Qualifications
- 5–8+ years of growth or performance marketing experience, with significant ownership of paid Search and Shopping for a scaled consumer business.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in Google Ads, including Search, Shopping, Performance Max, bidding strategies, query management, audience strategy, and campaign optimization.
- Strong experience with Google Merchant Center and product feed management/optimization.
- Experience managing meaningful acquisition budgets and a track record of scaling growth while maintaining efficiency.
- Experience in e-commerce, DTC, subscription, membership, marketplace, or another analytically complex consumer business.
- Strong analytical instincts and fluency in experimentation, attribution, incrementality, forecasting, and performance measurement.
- Ability to connect channel metrics to broader business outcomes including CAC, conversion, customer quality, retention, and LTV.
- Strong customer intuition- you’re curious about why people search, what they need to believe before converting, and what creates or removes friction along the journey.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Advertising/Bing and the broader search ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of how AI, automation, and generative search are changing consumer discovery. Direct GEO experience is a plus; genuine curiosity and a desire to become an expert are essential.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills and the ability to influence partners across Analytics, Finance, Product, Technology, Merchandising, Content, and Creative.
- Comfortable moving between strategy and execution: you can build the roadmap, make the business case, and get into the account or data yourself when needed.
