Senior Growth Marketing Manager

Department: Marketing

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Carma HQ

Reporting To: Emily Meier-Murren

Description

At Carma, we're more than just a car company—we're on a mission to shake up the Australian automotive industry! As a digital pre-owned car dealership, we're transforming the car buying and selling experience into a hassle-free, seamless journey that customers can truly enjoy. With our diverse and collaborative team managing everything from technology and marketing to buying and reconditioning in-house, we're powered by great people, fresh ideas and a shared ambition to do things differently.

As a Senior Growth Marketing Manager, you'll play a key role in driving Carma's next phase of growth. You'll be responsible for identifying and scaling new acquisition channels, maximising organic search performance, building effective CRM and lifecycle programs, and bringing our product propositions to life through compelling messaging and customer-focused marketing.

This is a high-impact role for a commercially minded growth marketer who combines strategic thinking with a hands-on approach. Working closely with the Director of Marketing, Product team, digital performance specialists and agency partners, you'll own initiatives across both sides of our marketplace—buyers and sellers—using data, experimentation and customer insights to drive sustainable lead growth and measurable business outcomes.

You'll have the opportunity to shape how customers discover Carma, engage with our brand and move through the buying and selling journey, while helping build a smarter, more scalable growth engine for the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, test and scale new non-paid acquisition channels to drive qualified leads across both the buyer and seller sides of Carma's marketplace.
  • Develop and lead a structured test-and-learn approach, establishing clear hypotheses, success metrics and rapid experimentation cycles to identify growth opportunities.
  • Build business cases for scaling successful channels, working with the digital performance team to optimise investment and discontinue underperforming initiatives.
  • Own Carma's organic growth strategy across SEO and Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO), improving our visibility across traditional search engines and emerging AI-driven discovery platforms.
  • Drive improvements across technical SEO, site architecture, content strategy and structured data to increase qualified organic traffic and leads at a lower marginal cost.
  • Own CRM and lifecycle marketing strategy, developing programs that convert, retain and reactivate leads throughout the customer journey.
  • Build effective audience segmentation, automated nurture journeys and personalised campaigns that maximise the value of Carma's consented first-party data.
  • Improve lead-to-sale conversion, repeat engagement, cross-sell and referral outcomes through targeted lifecycle marketing initiatives.
  • Lead product marketing across Carma's Retail and Sell-to propositions, developing clear positioning, compelling messaging and go-to-market strategies.
  • Partner with the Product team to translate product features into meaningful customer benefits and support new feature releases, propositions and market launches.
  • Collaborate on onsite conversion rate optimisation, identifying opportunities to improve customer journeys and remove friction across the funnel.
  • Develop messaging aligned with Carma's Category Entry Points (CEP) framework to strengthen customer consideration and drive demand.
  • Ensure new acquisition channels and CRM programs integrate effectively with paid digital measurement, attribution and audience strategies.
  • Establish clear performance metrics and reporting across channels and campaigns, tracking lead volume, conversion and contribution to cars delivered and vehicles purchased.
  • Run the Growth WIP alongside our agency partner, maintaining visibility of priorities, performance, experiments and optimisation opportunities.
  • Proactively communicate results, insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders, connecting marketing activity to commercial outcomes.
  • Manage external agencies and suppliers, ensuring delivery against agreed objectives and identifying opportunities to improve performance.
  • Share knowledge and coach marketing specialists as the function grows, helping build a culture of experimentation, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Bring a practical, hands-on approach to execution, balancing strategic priorities with the ability to roll up your sleeves and get things done.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • At least 7 years' experience in growth or digital marketing, ideally within a fast-paced e-commerce, marketplace or digital-first business.
  • A demonstrated track record of identifying, testing and scaling customer acquisition channels to deliver sustainable growth.
  • Strong SEO expertise, including technical SEO, content optimisation and site architecture, alongside a clear perspective on AEO and AI-driven search.
  • Proven experience developing and executing CRM and lifecycle marketing strategies, including audience segmentation, marketing automation and customer nurture programs.
  • Product marketing experience, with the ability to develop positioning, messaging and go-to-market strategies that clearly communicate customer value.
  • A data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills and a genuine passion for experimentation, testing and continuous optimisation.
  • Advanced knowledge of Google Analytics 4, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager, Meta and relevant email or marketing automation platforms.
  • Experience leveraging first-, second- and third-party data to inform audience strategies, personalisation, acquisition and conversion.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to connect marketing performance to lead quality, conversion, revenue and broader business outcomes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to influence decisions and present insights to senior leaders.
  • Experience managing external agencies and suppliers, with the ability to establish clear objectives, challenge recommendations and drive accountability.
  • Comfortable operating at both a strategic and executional level, taking ownership of initiatives from initial hypothesis through to implementation and measurement.
  • Highly adaptable and comfortable navigating ambiguity, competing priorities and a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience in leadership or people management would be advantageous, but is not essential.
  • Experience in the automotive, classifieds or marketplace sector would be highly regarded.
  • A relevant undergraduate degree.
