Job Description:

The University of Florida’s Division of Enrollment Management is seeking a talented and strategic Senior Copywriter to create compelling, audience focused content that supports student recruitment, enrollment, and engagement initiatives. In this role, you will develop impactful copy across a variety of channels, including email campaigns, websites, marketing materials, digital advertising, video scripts, newsletters, and other communications. Working closely with subject matter experts, designers, and marketing professionals, you will translate complex information into clear, engaging content while maintaining university brand and editorial standards. The ideal candidate is a skilled storyteller with exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities, experience developing SEO focused web content, and a data informed approach to enhancing message effectiveness. This position offers an opportunity to shape the voice of Enrollment Management and contribute to strategic marketing campaigns that connect with prospective and current students.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Copywriting & Content Development

  • Develop engaging, impactful, and audience focused content across a variety of channels, including email campaigns, websites, marketing collateral, digital advertising, newsletters, annual reports, press releases, video scripts, and other communications.
  • Write, edit, and refine content that supports student recruitment, enrollment, retention, and engagement initiatives while maintaining university brand standards, editorial guidelines, and a consistent voice.
  • Translate complex academic, administrative, and technical information into clear, compelling, and user-friendly content tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Create content that aligns with strategic communication goals, campaign objectives, and audience needs across print and digital platforms.
  • Proofread and edit content to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, quality, and adherence to established style standards.
  • Review and provide editorial feedback on content developed by colleagues and stakeholders to ensure messaging effectiveness and brand alignment.

Content Strategy & Collaboration

  • Conduct research to support content development and ensure messaging is accurate, relevant, and aligned with communication goals.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders to develop engaging content with a consistent and cohesive voice.
  • Develop and optimize web content using SEO best practices to support visibility, readability, and engagement.
  • Review and refine existing content to improve readability, accuracy, voice, and overall effectiveness.

Content Performance & Insights

  • Use data, surveys, and communication results to evaluate message effectiveness and user satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities to improve content based on communication performance and results.
  • Apply findings to future content development and communication strategies.

Campaign Support

  • Assist with documenting communication campaigns and mapping communication flows.
  • Support testing and review of customized communication campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the Email Marketing Specialist to support accurate and effective campaign delivery.

Other Duties

  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Expected Salary:

$65,000

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area; or an associate’s degree and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

Five years of professional writing and communications experience in higher education, publishing, an agency setting, or a related professional environment.

  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive while seeking assistance when appropriate.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and time management skills.
  • Experience developing content across multiple platforms and communication channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging, and effective messaging.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders to develop communication and marketing content.
  • Knowledge of brand and editorial standards and content development best practices.
  • Experience developing web content and applying SEO principles.
  • Ability to use research, data, and communication results to improve communication effectiveness.
