The Community Manager – Podcasting & Social Media position exists to grow and engage Focus on the Family’s social media audience for the assigned brand or brands within Podcasting & Social Media. This role serves as the day-to-day social voice of the assigned brand(s) on social platforms, turning podcast and ministry content into clips and posts that reach, encourage, and disciple the audiences Focus on the Family serves. Collaborating with producers, videographers, and graphic designers, the Community Manager publishes a high volume of short-form content, writes the captions that frame it, manages community interaction across channels, and analyzes performance to learn what resonates with each audience. The role blends creative copywriting, disciplined publishing, and analytics. For instances in which the role serves multiple brands, it requires the ability to switch voice and tone fluidly, so each audience feels directly spoken to.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Publishes short-form content for the assigned brand or brands across social platforms on a consistent cadence, with volume aligned to the assignment.

Schedules and posts clips, reels, and short videos at optimal times for each platform and audience, ensuring each post meets platform specifications and the assigned brand's standards before publishing.

Writes compelling, on-brand captions for short-form content with hooks, calls to action, and copy tailored to each platform and audience.

For multi-brand assignments, maintains distinct yet consistent voices across the assigned brands so each audience feels directly spoken to.

Engages the assigned online community by responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely, warm, and Christ-like manner.

Fosters conversation, answers constituent questions, surfaces meaningful interactions, and escalates sensitive or pastoral situations appropriately.

Analyzes short-form content performance to understand what resonates and inform future captions, formats, and posting strategy, tracking reach, engagement, and growth metrics separately by brand where multiple brands are assigned.

Shares performance findings and content recommendations with the assigned brand-area director and the broader Podcasting & Social Media team.

Sets up and maintains engagement automations such as auto-replies, DM flows, and saved responses to scale community interaction without losing a personal, ministry-minded tone.

Coordinates with podcast producers, videographers, graphic designers, and content creators to source clip-worthy moments and align social content with the assigned brand's publishing calendar.

Monitors social trends, audio, formats, and platform changes relevant to the assigned audience(s) and adapts content accordingly.

Maintains a content and publishing calendar for the assigned brand or brands.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Shares community feedback and content ideas to the broader team.
  • Supports special social campaigns, launches, and live coverage of events as assigned.
  • Maintains an organized library of published posts, captions, and assets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field, or equivalent experience; a strong portfolio of social content can substitute
  • 3-5 years of experience managing social media, community management, or creating short-form content
  • Hands-on experience publishing on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and similar platforms
  • Experience writing social captions and copy, ideally for more than one brand or audience
  • Familiarity with social scheduling and community-management tools
  • Working knowledge of social analytics and engagement metrics
  • Awareness of the assigned brand's audience and the broader Christian ministry context preferred

Skills, Abilities, and Special Talents/Gifts:

  • Strong short-form copywriting and caption-writing skills, including across multiple voices when serving multiple brands
  • Proficiency publishing and scheduling across major social platforms
  • Community management and audience engagement skills
  • Familiarity with engagement automation tools and DM flows
  • Ability to read social analytics and adjust strategy
  • Basic video clip selection and light editing awareness
  • Strong organization and consistency under a publishing cadence
  • Collaboration with producers, videographers, designers, and content creators
  • Sound judgment in public-facing communication
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continually developing skills, competencies, and maturity

Pay Range: $ 62,431 to $ 74,783
