Purpose of the role

To develop, deliver and maintain a results-driven approach to digital marketing, to effectively acquire customers. Manage and optimise the conversion journey through paid (including PPC and Affiliates) and organic channels

Accountabilities

  • Development and implementation of performance marketing strategies aligned with business goals. To include identification of target audiences, establishment of campaign objectives, and selection of appropriate marketing channels.
  • Planning, execution and optimisation of activity across various traditional and digital channels (including paid and affiliates) where relevant, including establishment of campaign budgets, monitoring of performance metrics, and implementation of data-driven optimisations to improve ROI.
  • Analysis of campaign performance data and insights, and preparation of regular reports to evaluate the effectiveness of activity.
  • Optimisation of marketing channels, including landing pages, user journeys, and conversion funnels to improve conversion rates of marketing campaigns (CRO).
  • Management of performance marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, including monitoring of campaign costs, negotiation of contracts with vendors, and optimisation of spending to achieve marketing objectives.
  • Stay updated on competitive trends, marketing technologies and tools to enhance campaign efficiency, where appropriate.

Join us as a Join us as a Performance Marketing Manager where you will play a key role in building and scaling Barclay’s acquisition capability. Working closely with the VP of Performance Marketing, you will help translate marketing investment into measurable commercial outcomes through performance insight, agency management, reporting, experimentation, and conversion optimisation. This role will combine analysis, commercial awareness, and operational excellence.

Whilst the VP will provide strategic direction, you will act as a critical operational partner, staying close to campaign performance, data, agency delivery, and day-to-day execution to ensure activity drives business results. You will work closely with our media agency, supporting brief development, reviewing performance, identifying risks and opportunities, ensuring marketing activity remains aligned to commercial targets. While media planning and buying sit with the agency, you will play an important role in guiding conversations, evaluating performance, and maintaining a clear focus on customer acquisition efficiency.

To be successful, you should have:

  • Experience in digital marketing, performance marketing, growth marketing, acquisition marketing, paid media, or a related field, typically gained over 3-5 years
  • Demonstrable experience supporting and optimising digital marketing campaigns, including areas such as paid search, PPC, paid social, lead generation, demand generation, customer acquisition, or performance marketing.
  • Experience working collaboratively with external agencies or delivery partners to execute and improve digital marketing activity.
  • Considerable understanding of digital marketing performance metrics and optimisation techniques, including conversion rates, marketing funnels, attribution, forecasting, testing and experimentation, performance reporting, analytics, and return on investment (ROI).
  • Ability to interpret performance data, generate actionable insights, and make recommendations to improve commercial outcomes.

This role will be based in London, however applications from Northampton will also be considered.

Barclays’ payments acceptance business provides critical infrastructure to the UK economy, processing billions of pounds of payments annually for both small businesses and domestic and international corporate clients.

Barclays will invest approximately £400m in the new business, the majority of which will be incurred during the first three years. Barclays and Brookfield will work to create a standalone entity over time, continuing to use the Barclaycard Payments (BPL) brand and acting as the sole payments acceptance services provider to Barclays’ clients for a minimum of ten years.
