About the Role:
The Marketing Content Creator develops clear, engaging, and persuasive copy across print and digital marketing channels. This role supports a wide range of consumer- and member-facing materials, including circulars, sell sheets, email campaigns, digital banners, social media, display advertising, ecommerce content, landing pages, and promotional collateral.
The ideal candidate is a versatile writer who can translate product information, marketing strategies, and business objectives into concise, compelling content. This individual will adapt messaging for different formats, audiences, and brand voices while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment across every customer touchpoint.
Responsibilities include:
Print and Digital Copywriting
- Write compelling copy for print and digital marketing materials, including circulars, catalogs, sell sheets, brochures, direct mail, email campaigns, digital banners, social media, display advertising, landing pages, and in-store signage.
- Develop attention-grabbing headlines, product descriptions, promotional messaging, calls to action, and supporting copy.
- Adjust messaging based on channel requirements, audience needs, available space, and campaign objectives.
- Create content that clearly communicates product features, benefits, value propositions, promotions, and brand stories.
- Research and write articles, blog posts, project content, and other long-form marketing materials as assigned.
Ecommerce and SEO Content
- Write SEO-informed headlines, product descriptions, category content, articles, and landing-page copy.
- Use search trends, sales data, customer behavior, and performance insights to identify content needs and opportunities.
- Incorporate relevant keywords naturally while maintaining readability, accuracy, and brand voice.
- Partner with Ecommerce and Marketing teams to improve the clarity, usefulness, and performance of online content.
Brand Voice and Content Strategy
- Maintain consistent messaging and tone across print and digital channels.
- Adapt copy appropriately for Do it Best, True Value, exclusive brands, and participating member brands.
- Support the development and ongoing refinement of brand voice, messaging standards, and content strategies.
- Ensure copy aligns with brand standards, marketing objectives, and audience expectations.
- Contribute ideas for integrated campaigns that connect print, digital, social, email, and in-store messaging.
Collaboration and Content Management
- Collaborate with designers, marketers, merchandisers, ecommerce partners, and other stakeholders to develop integrated marketing materials.
- Review creative briefs, product information, promotional details, and campaign objectives before developing content.
- Edit and proofread copy for grammar, spelling, clarity, accuracy, consistency, and brand alignment.
- Verify pricing, product information, offer details, legal disclaimers, dates, and calls to action before final production.
- Revise content based on stakeholder feedback while maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of the message.
- Manage multiple assignments and deadlines across print and digital production schedules.
- Maintain organized content files and support efficient review, proofing, and approval processes.
Content Performance and Innovation
- Review available campaign, email, ecommerce, and engagement data to evaluate content effectiveness.
- Recommend messaging adjustments based on results, audience behavior, and business goals.
- Stay current on copywriting, content marketing, retail, ecommerce, SEO, and advertising trends.
- Explore new tools and technologies that can improve content quality, consistency, and efficiency.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, Advertising, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Two or more years of professional copywriting, content marketing, advertising, or editorial experience is preferred.
- Experience writing both short- and long-form content across print and digital channels.
- Retail, ecommerce, agency, consumer marketing, or multi-brand experience is preferred.
- Portfolio or writing samples demonstrating versatility across marketing channels.
Skills and Abilities:
- Exceptional written communication skills across short- and long-form content.
- Strong command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, proofreading, and editing.
- Ability to write effective headlines, promotional messaging, product copy, and calls to action.
- Strong research skills with the ability to quickly understand products, audiences, and complex information.
- Ability to translate detailed information into clear, concise, and consumer-friendly language.
- Understanding of marketing, advertising, and brand storytelling principles.
- Working knowledge of SEO and digital content best practices.
- Familiarity with web, email, and campaign analytics is preferred.
- Ability to adapt writing styles and tones across different brands, audiences, and channels.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with project management and proofing platforms such as Monday.com and Ziflow is a plus.
