Growth Marketing

Shulman & Partners LLP is a high-performing, human-centered family law firm with offices in Toronto and Ottawa, driven by a singular vision: Do Good, Make an Impact. We are a firm with a result-oriented team and a culture based on pro-activity, professional integrity, and the utmost commitment to our clients. We believe good ideas come from challenging each other's thinking. Feedback is part of how we improve, and upholding high standards is how we grow.

We are looking for a hands-on Growth & Marketing Manager to own our marketing function and run the day-to-day operations. Our brand is built on trust. You will manage that brand and keep the firm's voice consistent. This role has two sides: reputation and reach. Reputation is our standing in the market and the visibility of our lawyers in family law. Reach is making sure the people who need a family lawyer can easily find us and understand how we work. You will be accountable for both, understand how each feeds the other, and make recommendations thoughtfully.

Reporting To: Executive Director

Team Size: No Direct Reports

Who This Role Is Right For:

  • Someone with a strong foundation in marketing, 5+ years in, who understands both brand and growth marketing and does the work directly using their own judgment.
  • Someone who wants to own and grow a function, not just maintain it.
  • Someone who understands that our brand is trust and excellence. Our clients are going through one of the hardest times in their lives, and the work must reflect genuine care and the quality of what we do.
  • Someone creative who stays grounded in the business. Your ideas connect to how the firm earns and keeps clients, rather than standing out for its own sake.
  • Someone analytical who tests before they trust a number and treats growth as a series of small experiments: try something, see what the data says, adjust, and try again.
  • Someone who takes feedback well, asks good questions, and cares more about getting it right than being right.
  • Someone who stays curious and eager to keep learning.

Who This Role Is Not Right For:

  • People who are creative for its own sake, who want to make things that look good rather than build trust and reach the people who need us.
  • People who optimize reports and dashboards before asking whether they are measuring the right thing.
  • People who want a team to manage or lean on. This is a high-autonomy, hands-on seat.
  • People looking to be told exactly what to do or perform a repetitive set of tasks and who do not enjoy figuring things out.
  • People who prefer stability over speed, who do not like shifting priorities, and who get flustered under pressure.
  • People who want a fully built-out marketing function to step into.

Attitudes:

We care about you being tightly aligned with how we operate:

  • You hold yourself and the people around you to a very high bar; you do not make excuses for yourself or for others.
  • You do what it takes. You take ownership without being asked. If something is broken, you propose a fix; if there is an opportunity, you highlight it.
  • You stay curious past the first answer. You do not just flag that something is not working, you understand why, and you fix it if you can. You do not tend to say this is not my job.
  • You use good judgment and act on it, checking in when the stakes call for it rather than waiting for permission on everything, but you always keep your team informed.
  • You are a self-starter who is comfortable being in the details and rolling up your sleeves to get things done. You do not let obstacles stop you from finding a way through.
  • You have excellent analytical skills. You love using data to identify problems, discover opportunities, and back up your ideas.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in marketing, spanning both brand and growth work, ideally in a professional services environment.
  • Comfortable with data and reporting tools (e.g., Google Analytics, CRM or email platforms), and with building where there is no existing playbook.
  • We hire for character, judgment, ownership, curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly, more than credentials. What you have owned and improved matters more than the titles you have held.

Brand & Reputation: Own how the firm presents itself and how it is known. Keep our voice consistent, genuine, and worthy of the trust clients place in us, across everything a client or referral source sees.Growth Marketing: Own how the right clients find us, across the channels we use to reach them. Know where our clients come from and why they choose us, make quality decisions about where the firm invests, and improve that over time.

Profile & Thought Leadership: Own the firm's public profile. Grow our presence in the media, support our lawyers as recognized authorities in family law, and build the content that strengthens our reputation.

Referral Relationships: Build and strengthen relationships with the professionals who refer work to us.

New Markets: Bring the market analysis and positioning work as the firm grows into new markets. Firm leadership owns the expansion strategy; you own the thinking and work behind it.

Continuous Improvement: Find better ways to run the function and automate what you can.

  • Professional learning and development opportunities.
  • A management team focused on performance, growth, engagement, and connection.
  • Extended health, dental, and mental health benefits.
  • Generous PTO policy and winter break shutdown.
  • Flexible hybrid work arrangement upon successful completion of the probation period.
  • $90,000 to $125,000 CAD base salary; compensation based on the experience, judgment, and independence you bring to the role.
