About us

Southern Cross Health Insurance is shaping a healthier Aotearoa New Zealand. Our purpose is simple: empowering our members to live well for longer. We're here to give peace of mind through timely access to quality care, inspire healthier living, and lead positive change across the health system. As a New Zealand-owned, member-based organisation, we're building a future where wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do -- delivering exceptional value for our members and creating an environment where our people thrive.

Now is an exciting time to join us. You'll be part of a high-performing, values-driven team where people are at the heart of everything we do -- and in return for your talent, you'll have the opportunity to grow, make an impact, and be proud of the difference your work makes.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Business and Adviser Growth Marketing team and shape a seamless customer journey across acquisition, engagement and retention. You’ll bring together activity across the Business and Adviser channels, creating a cohesive marketing plan that delivers sustainable growth, strengthens customer loyalty and keeps us close to the needs of our customers.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, creating clarity, pace and strong cross-functional collaboration.
  • Own the end-to-end Business and Adviser channel strategy, bringing acquisition and retention activity together into one cohesive plan.
  • Champion a consistent and high-quality customer experience across every stage of the journey, from joining and welcome through to renewal.
  • Use customer insights, data and a test-and-learn approach to improve acquisition, retention and engagement outcomes.
  • Partner with Brand & Experience, Marketing Communications Delivery, agencies and other key stakeholders to deliver well-coordinated, on-brand activity.
  • Oversee channel plans, budgets and performance, ensuring work is delivered effectively and supports broader business objectives.

About you

You’re an experienced marketing leader who understands how to grow and retain customers within a business or service-based environment. You can think strategically while maintaining a strong focus on delivery, and you know how to create the structure, momentum and accountability a team needs to succeed.

You will bring:

  • Strong experience in B2B, B2B2C, business or corporate marketing, ideally within a service-led organisation.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing teams to deliver customer and commercial outcomes.
  • A proven ability to connect acquisition and retention activity across an end-to-end customer journey.
  • Strong campaign, media and agency management experience.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to turn business plans into clear, actionable marketing activity.
  • Confidence using customer insights and performance data to guide decisions and support continuous improvement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence across cross-functional teams and partner channels.
  • An adaptable and empowering leadership style, along with an understanding of Agile ways of working.

Our values: who we are and what’s important to us

Ngākau nui. Āhurutanga. Tikanga.

Join a team that’s always there, always real, always true. If you thrive in a purpose-driven, diverse and supportive culture, we think you’ll love working with us.

What we offer you

  • Five days of wellbeing leave per year, pro-rated for part-time employees
  • Health insurance for you and your immediate whānau
  • Life insurance cover and discounts on pet and travel insurance
  • Additional parental leave benefits and financial wellbeing support
  • The opportunity to participate in our workplace wellbeing programme

But that’s not all. If you need more time to support your whānau, we offer work-life balance, a hybrid environment and an annual volunteer day to spend with your team contributing to a cause or community of your choice.

This role is Auckland based, and while we appreciate interest from candidates in other locations, we’re unfortunately unable to consider remote options for this position.

We are proud to have taken the Pride Pledge, reflecting our commitment to inclusion and belonging. We also facilitate an active, employee-led Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Forum, which includes our Rainbow Network, Māori Network, Pasifika Collective, and Neurodiversity and Whānau Support networks.

If you share our commitment and passion, we'd love to hear from you.
