Director of Paid Social
SociallyinDirector of Paid Social
Sociallyin | Atlanta, GA (Remote-friendly) | $80,000–$95,000
We're hiring a Director of Paid Social to own and grow our paid media department. This is a senior leadership role for someone who's ready to build something, not just maintain it.
About the role
Sociallyin is a social media marketing agency, and only a social media marketing agency. We've been operating for 15 years, we're 50 people strong, and we're actively investing in how AI changes the way agencies work.
Our paid media department runs over $200K+ in monthly ad spend across 30+ client accounts, spanning Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Google, YouTube, and more. Clients range from SMB to mid-market to enterprise. The function is solid, but the ceiling is significantly higher than where we are today, and we need a leader who can take it there.
We want someone who can manage a team of 5 (mid-level and junior buyers), elevate performance across the board, build the systems and playbooks we've been operating without, move the department upmarket, and develop the next generation of leaders inside it.
This isn't a seat-warmer role. You'll report directly to the founders, you'll have full authority over how the department runs, and you'll have real influence on where the agency goes next.
What you'll own
- Team leadership and development. Managing a team of 5+ paid media specialists (middle and junior). Coaching them, growing their skills, and building a culture where people want to do their best work.
- Department performance. Owning the results across every client in the paid book. Defining what good looks like, holding the team to it, and driving continuous improvement.
- Strategy across platforms. Setting the strategic direction for paid campaigns across Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Google, and YouTube. Knowing when to push budget, when to pull back, and when to test something new.
- Client relationships. Acting as the senior paid voice in strategic client conversations. Building trust with marketing leaders at SMB through enterprise clients. Being the person clients want in the room when paid comes up.
- Systems and playbooks. Formalizing what's currently tribal knowledge into repeatable processes. Building the operating system that lets the department scale without sacrificing quality.
- Hiring and growth. Full authority to hire, restructure, and grow the team as the department scales. You'll be building the seat above yours and the seats below.
- AI and tooling. Identifying where AI can sharpen our work, evaluating new tools, and making the calls on what we adopt. We want a leader who's curious about where this is going, not defensive about it.
- Upmarket expansion. Helping us win and retain bigger, more sophisticated paid accounts. Being the kind of operator that enterprise clients trust.
- Cross-functional partnership. Working closely with Account Management, Creative, and Strategy to make sure paid is integrated into the bigger picture, not running in a silo.
What success looks like in your first 6 months
- The team is operating at a higher standard than when you arrived, and they know why.
- You've put systems and playbooks in place that didn't exist before, and the team is actually using them.
- Client retention in the paid book is up, and at least one account has expanded scope because of work you led.
- Performance metrics across the department are trending in the right direction, with the data to prove it.
- You've built a clear point of view on where the department is going and how we get there, and the leadership team is bought in.
Where this role can go
This is a department-building role at an agency that's actively scaling. As the paid book grows, so does the department, which means new roles emerge underneath you and broader influence for you over time. You'll have real say in what that path looks like, because you're building it.
What you bring
- 7+ years of paid social experience, with at least 2-3 of those years in agency.
- Direct team leadership experience. You've managed people, not just projects. You know how to coach a mid-level buyer and develop a junior one.
- Real depth on these platforms: Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Google, YouTube, X. Comfortable across the rest, even if you'd lean on the team for the ones you know less.
- Strategic thinking beyond the platform. You don't just optimize toward CPA. You understand the client's business, the funnel they live inside, and what paid actually needs to do for them.
- A track record of building something. Systems, playbooks, training programs, hiring frameworks, reporting structures — something you put in place that outlasted you.
- Strong client communication. You can hold your own in a room with a VP of Marketing or a CMO and walk out with their trust.
- Genuine curiosity about AI and where this work is headed. You experiment with new tools. You ask "could AI do this part?" before grinding through manual work.
- An operator's instinct. You can read a P&L, think about margin, and understand why department profitability matters as much as performance.
