Are you a creative, curious digital storyteller who knows what makes content connect, and can turn ideas into engaging social content? Do you have hands-on experience with social media, website analytics, SEO, paid digital campaigns, and content creation—and love using data to make your next move even better? Are you a self-starter who’s excited to own a digital portfolio, experiment with new ideas, and use your skills to help tell stories that genuinely make a difference? If so, we invite you to apply and help The Alex become better known across Calgary—one story, scroll, and click at a time.
About The Alex
Since 1973, The Alex has been one of Calgary’s most trusted community organizations, providing integrated, wrap-around health, housing, and social services to the people who need them most. With over 500 staff and volunteers, we do something few organizations attempt: we bring every kind of help together under one roof, meeting people where they are and walking with them toward stability and wellness.
We are proud of the difference we make. Now we want more Calgarians to know we exist. This role is central to that mission.
The Opportunity
We are launching an ambitious brand awareness strategy to change how Calgary sees us, and we are looking for a talented Digital & Social Media Specialist to bring it to life. This is a rare chance to own the digital heartbeat of a beloved organization at a pivotal moment, turning a well-kept secret into a household name.
You will be the person who makes our brand-new website work harder, builds a social media presence people actually want to follow, and translates real stories of impact into content that moves people to give, volunteer, partner, and advocate. If you live and breathe digital, obsess over engagement, and want your work to genuinely matter, this is your role.
This is not a chained-to-a-desk job. Roughly half your time will be heads-down work you can do from your desk (or from home on your work-from-home day) - building the website, running digital ads, and digging into analytics. The other half, we want you out in the world: in our clinics and satellite locations, digging up stories, capturing real moments, and shooting short reels of our staff and projects. The role has real vitality - you will bring our work to life because you have been there to see it firsthand.
You will report to the Manager, Communications & Marketing and join a small but robust team of passionate storytellers, working alongside our donor communications and internal communications & events colleagues. We are a close-knit group that punches well above our weight, and we are looking for someone ready to bring fresh energy to it.
This is a permanent, full-time position.
