Position Summary
As Senior Manager — Copy, you are the strategic owner of Bluemercury’s brand voice and narrative architecture. Equal parts visionary and hands-on craftsperson, you lead omni-channel storytelling that drives revenue, deepens brand equity, and elevates the client experience. You set copy strategy for integrated campaigns, two proprietary brands, and vendor partners, while building a high-performing team and scalable processes.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Voice & Strategy
- Own and evolve Bluemercury’s copy style guide; ensuring every touch-point reflects our luxury-yet-approachable tone and business objectives.
- Partner with Creative, Marketing, Merchandising, and Executive teams to concept 360° campaigns—from big-idea platforms through tactical roll-outs—and present work with ECD to SLT for alignment and approval.
- Translate consumer insights and performance data into compelling storytelling angles that accelerate conversion and loyalty.
Omni-Channel Content Ownership
- Oversee ideation, writing, and editing for email, site/PDP, SEO, social, paid media, video, in-store, print, PR, and packaging.
- Lead copy and partner with proprietary marketing for all proprietary-brand launches (claims, naming, education) and high-stakes vendor activations.
- Balance storytelling with performance goals; leverage cross functional channel owners information, SEO data, and analytics to refine messaging.
Team, Vendor, and Cross Functional Management
- Manage, coach, and develop the Junior Copywriter.
- Build a freelance bench and forecast head-count needs as the business scales.
- Scope and assign projects, estimate copy hours, and maintain quality control within an agile, fast-paced calendar.
- Foster a collaborative culture that encourages creativity, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Create clear workflows, SLAs, and review checkpoints that boost speed-to-market without sacrificing craft.
- Champion an inclusive, feedback-rich culture that attracts and retains top creative talent.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence
- Serve as senior copy voice in GTM, product development, and innovation meetings—ensuring storytelling is embedded from concept to launch.
- Work closely with Design, Merchandising, Email, Website, Social, Legal/Regulatory, Marketing, Stores/Eventing, and external vendor partners to align messaging with strategic objectives and compliance standards.
- Act as spokesperson for copy best practices, leading training sessions for merchandising, store ops, and customer service.
Process & Innovation
- Champion efficient processes and digital tools that streamline copy development, review, and localization.
- Stay ahead of beauty, fashion, and content trends; share best practices with the wider Creative team.
