POSITION TITLE: Brand and Social Media Specialist

REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Program Marketing
CONTRACT TYPE: Indefinite Term
HOURS: 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday with occasional evening and/or weekend hours)
PAY RATE: $24.55 per hour
START DATE: Immediately
General Accountability:
With 41 years of operations, Skills for Change is a highly respected non-profit charity with a province wide reputation for pioneering programs
that respond to shifting immigration and workplace trends and lead to employment. We offer a range of accelerated programs including
mentoring, employment, settlement, language training together with specialized programs for skilled trades, women, and youth. We have 5
locations across the GTA and serve 16,000 clients annually.
Program Nature And Scope:
The Immigrant, Refugee and Settlement (IRS) hub is a coordinated suite of programs and services to support the social, civic and economic
integration of newcomers to Canada. IRS programs operate like a “hub,” delivering a hybrid model of classroom and online learning, information
sessions, referrals, mentoring support as well as itinerant programs and services to meet the needs of immigrants and refugees in the various
communities within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Job Summary:
The Brand and Social Media Specialist supports the enhancement of Skills for Change’s digital presence, primarily through social media
platforms. This role assists in executing creative strategies to strengthen the organization’s visual identity while ensuring consistency in
messaging and design across digital channels. The specialist helps create compelling, mission-driven content, supports social media
campaigns, and leverages audience insights to highlight the organization’s story, programs, and impact. Success in this role requires a
combination of creativity, collaboration, and an understanding of digital trends and AI tools.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Brand Strategy & Messaging
• Develop and implement comprehensive brand strategies that align with the organization’s goals, fostering a consistent and impactful
presence across digital and social media platforms.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment and that all digital content supports and reinforces the organization’s values, mission,
and evolving program offerings.
• Conduct regular brand audits to assess strengths and areas for improvement, making recommendations for strategic shifts when necessary.
• Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor activities, and audience preferences, continuously evolving the brand strategy to stay relevant
and impactful.
• Develop brand messaging guidelines to ensure a cohesive voice across all channels, balancing thought leadership, community-building,
and program advocacy.
2. Social Media Content Creation & Strategy
• Plan, create, and publish engaging content across multiple social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok),
balancing organic and paid efforts.
• Lead the development of creative, mission-driven content (graphics, videos, infographics, etc.) that tells compelling stories, highlights key
programs, and showcases the organization’s impact on the community.
• Build and maintain content calendars to ensure strategic, timely, and cohesive content distribution, aligning with major events, campaigns,
and organizational milestones.
• Design and execute social media campaigns for brand awareness, fundraising, program promotion, and audience engagement, leveraging
A/B testing and audience segmentation for optimized results.
• Proactively engage with followers and online communities, fostering authentic interactions, answering questions, and nurturing a positive
brand reputation.
• Research and experiment with emerging content formats, platforms, and trends to keep the organization’s digital presence fresh and
innovative.
• Capture engaging content across events, programs, and initiatives to create visually compelling video and static content that supports
storytelling, engagement, and brand visibility.
3. Paid & Organic Channel Strategy
• Develop and oversee strategies for both organic and paid social media channels, optimizing reach, engagement, and conversions.
• Manage paid ad campaigns (e.g., Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Google Ads) with a focus on audience targeting, budget
optimization, and performance tracking.
• Continuously test and refine paid strategies, using insights to improve ROI and achieve specific campaign objectives (e.g., lead generation,
volunteer recruitment, donor acquisition).
4. Brand Visuals & Creative Assets
• Collaborate closely with teams to produce visually compelling assets that align with brand guidelines and enhance storytelling.
Coordinate multimedia projects (short videos, reels, live streams, etc.) that captivate audiences and encourage interaction.
• Design and produce high-quality digital and print materials, including brochures, flyers, banners, social media graphics, and email
templates, to effectively promote the organization’s programs, events, and initiatives while ensuring alignment with branding and engaging
the target audience.
• Curate and maintain a library of creative assets, ensuring easy access to up-to-date visuals, photography, and templates for ongoing content
needs.
5. Performance Analytics & Reporting
• Track and analyze social media performance using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite), producing
regular reports on engagement, reach, conversions, and campaign outcomes.
• Translate data insights into actionable recommendations, refining social media and content strategies to enhance future performance.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for brand visibility, audience growth, and campaign success, aligning with broader
organizational goals.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as the primary liaison between marketing and other internal teams to align strategies, share insights, and gather valuable input for
content creation.
• Collaborate with fundraising teams to tailor messaging for donor outreach, sponsorship pitches, and campaign storytelling.
• Support program teams by translating impact data and client stories into compelling digital narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
7. General Marketing Support & Continuous Improvement
• Support the execution of broader marketing campaigns and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.
• Contribute to the ongoing optimization of marketing processes, suggesting improvements to enhance workflow, creativity, and quality
output. Provide training or knowledge-sharing sessions to upskill team members on social media best practices, branding principles, and
content creation

8. General Marketing Support.
• Support the execution of marketing campaigns and initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall strategies and
goals. Provide administrative assistance to the marketing team, helping with scheduling, coordination, or as
required.
• Monitor and recommend improvements for marketing processes, ensuring efficient workflow and creative output.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2-3 years of experience managing social media channels, creating digital content, and executing brand and marketing campaigns.
• Strong visual storytelling, copywriting, and content creation skills, with a portfolio showcasing social media, video, and creative work
(portfolio required).
• Strong understanding of social media trends, platform best practices, audience engagement, community management, and
analytics. Experience developing and executing social media and content strategies aligned with brand objectives.
• Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and YouTube), paid social advertising, and campaign
optimization. Experience using analytics and reporting tools to measure performance and inform content and campaign recommendations.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut, and social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite,
Sprout Social). Familiarity with AI-powered tools for content creation and workflow efficiency.
• Knowledge of the nonprofit, workforce development, newcomer, or community services sector, and inclusive marketing practices (good-tohave)
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and
communities.
• Highly organized, creative, and self-motivated, with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
• Strong understanding of accessibility standards (AODA/WCAG) and best practices for inclusive digital content.
• Provide on-site coverage for events and program initiatives, with occasional evening and weekend support as required.
Portfolio Requirement: Applications must include a portfolio showcasing social media campaigns, video content, graphic design, and
other relevant creative work.
