Etsy is looking for a Global Head of SEO to lead all the data-driven optimization of site experience to improve search engine traffic across Etsy’s global site portfolio with an analytical, data-driven approach.

You will develop and implement effective search engine optimization (SEO) strategies to help drive the company’s growth.

You will help manage offsite and onsite optimization projects and report on performance across critical factors, page types, and user missions, across a large number of partner teams.

This role leads Etsy’s efforts in the utilization of data-driven methodology, analyses, and measurement in order to improve the effectiveness of all SEO-related projects.

This role will oversee not only agency and internal optimization team resources, but also partner with MarTech, overall Product, and analytics on progressing the SEO and site stack to drive results.

This is a full-time position reporting to the VP Growth Marketing. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Spearheading the formulation, execution, and refinement of Etsy’s overarching global SEO strategy, aligning with organizational objectives and market dynamics.
  • Ensuring the team is equipped with the requisite tools and resources to thrive in their roles.
  • Conducting in-depth keyword research to identify strategic opportunities and inform content optimization efforts.
  • Analyzing and addressing technical SEO challenges, offering data-driven recommendations for improvement and efficiency.
  • Directing comprehensive off-page optimization initiatives, including but not limited to link-building campaigns, to enhance Etsy’s digital footprint and authority.
  • Providing strategic guidance and oversight to the SEO department, ensuring a cohesive vision and well-defined goals are established and pursued.
  • Leading, nurturing, and empowering the SEO team through effective coaching and mentorship, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  • Collaborating seamlessly with diverse teams, including content creators, designers, social media experts, and performance marketers, to synchronize efforts and enhance SEO impact.
  • Monitoring and analyzing key SEO performance indicators, generating insightful reports, and presenting findings regularly to key partners, offering actionable insights for refinement and enhancement.
  • Remaining at the forefront of SEO and digital marketing trends and methodologies, using powerful insights and techniques to optimize Etsy’s global SEO approach.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert and knowledge hub within the organization, proactively sharing best practices, innovative approaches, and actionable recommendations to drive SEO excellence across the business.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • 10+ years of Sr. SEO experience in a fast paced business and leading website.
  • Demonstrated expertise in devising and implementing enterprise-level SEO strategies, ideally within a global context.
  • Proven track record of leadership and team development, with a strong ability to inspire and empower diverse teams towards shared objectives.
  • Proficiency in utilizing advanced SEO tools and analytics platforms to drive informed decision-making and performance optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts and insights in a clear and compelling manner to both technical and non-technical partner teams.
  • A strategic mentality, coupled with a keen analytical competence and a relentless drive for results and continuous improvement.
  • Detailed understanding of SEO techniques, tools, digital channels, proactively keeping up-to-date with the latest innovations.
  • Expertise in advanced SEO testing methodologies
  • Advanced knowledge of analytical software such as Google Analytics, BrightEdge and other common web analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with SQL, scripting/programming for data mining and modeling (R, Python)
