The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. We want to see a world where woods and trees thrive for people and nature. The Trust engages and inspires people to take a stand and work to tackle the nature and climate crisis – helping to protect, restore and create vital woods and trees.

The role

Sitting within the brand & communications department, you’ll play a pivotal role in creating and publishing high quality, engaging online and offline content. You’ll drive forward our content strategy and best practice guidelines to ensure high web standards. The job is challenging and varied. You’ll work alongside marketing and communications colleagues to produce high quality content that meets user needs as well as organisational goals, including webpages, blogs, videos, emails, and offline materials for a wide-ranging audience.

The candidate

You’ll be experienced in managing digital content and an excellent writer with the skills to develop key messages and successful journeys for different audiences and channels. You’ll have proven experience of using content management systems and SEO tools and techniques to create engaging web content that performs. You’ll have the skills to review the effectiveness of your own and others’ digital content, and provide recommendations and make changes based on that insight.

Positive, confident and results focused, you’ll need excellent communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, build effective relationships with stakeholders and advise key business areas within the Trust. You’ll manage competing deadlines and have meticulous attention to detail with outstanding organisational skills.

This is a hybrid working role, where you’ll work part of your time at home and part of the time from our head office based in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Our hybrid working policy is flexible, and the frequency of time spent in your contracted office will vary across teams and job roles.

What you can expect by joining the team and making a difference

There’s no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. By joining the team you will be playing a vital role in tackling the nature and climate crisis. In return, we recognise and value our people. You’ll have our full support, training, and opportunities for professional development, along with a contributory pension, life assurance, good holiday allowance and the opportunity to work flexibly from home.

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion

At the Woodland Trust, we want to reflect and represent the full richness of diversity in the UK. Fewer of our employees are Black, Asian or minority ethnic; disabled; from lower socio-economic backgrounds or under 25; so we are particularly keen to receive your application if you are from one or more of these groups. We can also discuss anything you may need to achieve your full potential at any stage of the process. We assess your application solely on your demonstrated suitability for the job. Nothing else.

To ensure anonymized recruitment, if you have uploaded your CV, shortlisting panels do not see your CV until shortlisting has been completed. Before submitting your application, please ensure you have completed the supporting information section with details of experiences that clearly evidence as many aspects of the job description as possible.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications. If you are interested, we’d encourage you to submit your application as early as possible.
