About the role
We have a very exciting opportunity to join the SSAFA Digital & Innovation team as our Digital Content and Engagement Manager for 12-month maternity cover.
As Digital Content & Engagement Manager you will take the lead on setting out and fulfilling the content strategy for SSAFA to help build brand awareness and affinity with new and existing audiences. Day to day you will support your team of two – Senior Email Marketing Executive and Senior Paid Media Executive – to carry out their roles and ensure communications via email, paid social, and across the SSAFA website are optimised and engaging.
The role is central to the running of key campaigns across SSAFA including our brand awareness, beneficiary outreach, income generation, and service-specific promotion. As such you will be working closely with colleagues from across the business including Marketing & Brand, Fundraising, Specialist Services, Volunteering and more to understand departmental needs, and use these to develop impactful campaigns. You will also support the team in carrying out user research to ensure that the right content is being shared with the most appropriate audiences.
Alongside internal collaboration, you will work closely with and manage our agency partners, ensuring they fully understand the SSAFA brand and objectives for key campaigns and are held accountable for delivering high quality paid search activity.
We have several key projects coming up in the next 12 months; our focus continues to be on building the SSAFA brand amongst existing and potential new supporters, as well as ensuring people who need our support can access it. The Digital Content & Engagement Manager will be pivotal to the success of this activity and will also support on several large-scale projects, including advising on website redesign, and UX improvement activity, designed to support SSAFA’s overall objectives.
About the team
The core purpose of the Digital and Innovation team is to oversee the online digital experiences SSAFA provides to its external audiences across digital channels. The team are responsible for managing various disciplines from digital technology, digital governance, social media, email marketing, and content/SEO paid media and providing analysis services so that fundraising, frontline service teams, and volunteering can achieve their goals of supporting beneficiaries most in need.
About you
As this is a maternity cover role, we’re looking for someone who has demonstrable experience of running similar campaigns and can hit the ground running. Specifically, you will have experience in Digital Content Strategy development and implementation, content creation, paid search and paid social strategy activation, team management, user experience, CRO, and SEO expertise. Experience in the charity sector, as well as Armed Forces Knowledge would be beneficial, but is not essential as your SSAFA colleagues will be on hand to help with any knowledge gaps!
