What we are looking for

Are you excited by writing? Can you switch your style to suit any client, and know how to put yourself in the shoes of a customer? Then this role is for you..

The perfect candidate will have a background in writing with audiences front of mind, a good understanding of SEO content writing principles and understanding the data behind it. You will have the ability to take client briefs and turn them into content strategies and be confident in communicating about your work directly to clients.

The role

We are looking to add experienced team members to our growing team, join us on the journey to achieve our mission of going beyond expectations.

Our Content Managers work closely within our content department, as well as with the PPC, and Client services teams, to devise content strategies and create engaging content for different mediums. As part of the delivery team, you will be instrumental in providing the technical expertise that our clients love. You will make sure our clients’ businesses thrive, giving them confidence in our solutions-based approach.

Think this could be you?

Essential skills:

  • To be passionate about writing, with previous experience and examples of your work
  • The ability to take ownership of client strategies, managing the quality and consistency of content
  • The confidence to communicate your thoughts and ideas directly to clients
  • Experience with keyword research, using SEMrush, Screaming Frog or similar tools
  • Investigative mindset – with the motivation to solve problems and make continual improvements to user experience on websites
  • Must share our values, as found in our Little Pink Book


  • Understanding of SEO best practices relating to content
  • Basic Google Analytics knowledge to extract insights
  • NCTJ qualified or previously published

What your day might look like

  • Collaborating with the wider team, including our Relationship Managers, SEO and PPC teams to coordinate writing and strategies for our clients
  • Researching audiences, competitors and keywords to develop content strategies that drive quality traffic for clients
  • Writing unique and engaging content to suit different audiences and mediums
  • Proofreading content to assess for its technical accuracy
  • Conducting bespoke content audits and producing reports with a summary of findings
  • Whilst we have dedicated Relationship Managers for each client, there will be opportunities to speak directly with clients to provide the expertise that our clients love
  • Continue your own professional development, learning from our in house team of technical experts and regular company wide training sessions to inspire you to do the best work of your career

Anything from business strategy pitches, foraging in the woods to bake off challenges, your competitive streak is welcomed and encouraged.  (Previous events include clay pigeon shooting, boating, wine tasting, Crystal Maze, cookery courses, Tai Chi and firewalking)

  • We reply to all applications within 3 days. If successful our Head of People, Charlotte, who will invite you to a 30 minute meet and greet call. This is so that you can get a feel for our company vision and values and ask us questions so that you can assess if we are the right fit for you.
  • If that goes well you will then meet other members of our team including Kerry, our Head of Content and get to grips with the role and Footprint Digital.
  • You will be invited to come see us in person, meet more of the team and see our offices. By this point the hiring decision is as good as made.
