About the role
Motorway is searching for an experienced Director of Brand Marketing to lead our marketing efforts and brand strategy. Reporting to the CMO, you will develop the marketing strategy and lead the brand marketing team to bring our brand and campaigns to life. This high-impact role involves managing multi-million-pound budgets and owning critical growth KPIs across brand health and acquisition.
You will build and innovate the brand marketing team, provide strategic leadership, foster a high-performing, collaborative culture, and ensure functional excellence.
The ideal candidate is a proven Marketing Leader who is both analytical and creative, using data and customer insights to develop campaigns that drive awareness and engagement. You have a strong creative mindset for impactful brand campaigns and are a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of best practices and operational excellence.
We are looking for an excellent leader and team player who can lead by example, collaborate with other functions in the marketing organisation, and partner with key stakeholders, including Product, Sales, FP&A, Data Analytics, and our in-house Creative team.

What you’ll do:
- Lead the brand marketing team and define our strategy to build our brand and drive growth.
- Set the vision and brand strategy for Motorway, creating impactful positioning and messaging across the funnel.
- Develop and execute multi-channel brand campaigns and go-to-market strategies to meet business goals.
- Oversee all media planning and buying for campaigns, ensuring efficiency and alignment with business objectives to drive top-of-funnel growth.
- Define a data-informed marketing strategy, including how we use consumer data and insights to drive segmentation, targeting, messaging and campaigns and how those can be adapted across segments.
- Partner closely with Product Marketing, Growth Marketing, Communications, Media and Advertising Agencies, and Data Analytics to deliver integrated marketing campaigns, setting clear KPIs with a measurement and reporting plan.
- Embrace and champion a test-and-learn environment to demonstrate the incrementality and ROI of marketing spend; ensure tight oversight, management, and optimisation of a sizable marketing budget.
- Oversee the development, management, and iteration measurement frameworks across all channels, including econometrics.
- Build and oversee a network of agency partners to support our marketing needs that our aligned with our business objectives.
- Develop an infrastructure and process to coordinate marketing plans that balance impact and efficiency.
- Report regularly on progress and results to various stakeholders, including senior leadership.
Requirements
- Proven marketing and growth leadership with a track record of delivering brand awareness and growth, preferably in consumer tech or marketplace businesses.
- Success in building and leading high-performance marketing teams in a hyper-growth environment.
- Experience as the final point of accountability for commercial targets and business results.
- Track record in managing and executing large-scale marketing campaigns and long-term brand building through a diverse media mix.
- A customer champion with a proven track record of making things happen – delivering results quickly and efficiently.
- An integrated marketer with experience in inspiring creative ideas that come to life across a broad ecosystem of marketing channels, including paid, organic and earned.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to articulate the quantitative and qualitative impact of our efforts.
- Expertise in data-driven strategy development, with the ability to adapt priorities quickly in response to in-market changes
- Demonstrated experience evolving and expanding positioning and strengthening market standing for brands in the UK.
- Strong communication skills to build trust and influence with stakeholders and effectively communicate vision.
- Ability to work strategically at a senior level as well as being comfortable to roll up your sleeves and be hands-on in the role.
