About the role

This is a newly created position arising as part of an exciting period of development within the Income Generation Division.  The role sits within our growing Legacy Marketing team which is responsible for generating over half of the charity’s income.  The key focus of legacy marketing activities is to encourage and strengthen relationships with existing and new supporters in order to promote the importance of gifts in wills to the RSPCA’s work.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and co-ordinate legacy campaigns, including internal comms, ensuring the fundraising campaign processes are followed and relevant parties are fully briefed
  • Manage those legacy events and face to face meetings aimed at recruiting new prospects and supporting key stages of the supporter journey
  • Assist or lead, as appropriate, in the production of fundraising literature or content such as Animal Guardian and case studies
  • Devise and implement new legacy fundraising initiatives and campaigns (such as acquisition and awareness campaigns) with the line manager and independently where appropriate
  • Manage, monitor and review project/campaign costs against budgets
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of the activities delivered, taking remedial action as required

The job holder will also have administrative responsibilities including: Promptly responding  to correspondence generated from activities delivered; Managing a system for thanking all donors to ensure correspondence is appropriately tailored, and donations are processed promptly; Accurately entering/updating new/existing records as well as recording correspondence on the Society’s database.

About you Our successful candidate will be professional, passionate about delivering high quality work, self motivated and driven to ensure effective activity. You will have strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills which enable you to develop great working relationships. Legacy and/or charity marketing experience is desirable although not essential.  

In addition you will share our values and be compassionate, inspiration, committed, expert and act with integrity.

The successful applicant should have / be experienced in:

  • managing customer/donor relationships
  • supporting integrated campaigns and content creation
  • managing agencies
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop fruitful relationships
  • strong project management/ organisational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative
  • numeracy and ability to analyse activity performance and to track costs on a project basis
  • ability to compose and produce letters and copy for content
  • higher grade (A-C) GCSE English Language, Maths or equivalent or ability to prove similar numerical and literacy ability. Educated to A-level or equivalent standard
  • CIM/ IDM diploma or equivalent marketing diploma is desirable but not essential
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
